AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND ENTER INTO A JOINT
ELECTION AGREEMENT WITH CHAMBERS COUNTY FOR THE MUNICIPAL
ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE 2`'`1) DAY OF NOVEMBER, 2021, UNDER TERMS
AND CONDITIONS ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY MANAGER AND THE CITY
ATTORNEY; AUTHORIZING PAYMENT THEREFOR IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED THIRTY THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS (S30,000.00); AND PROVIDING
FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the City of Baytown is holding its municipal elcetion on November- 2, 2021, for the purpose of
electing the Mayor of the City of Baytown; and
WHEREAS, Chambers County (the "COLlnty") is holding an election on the same uniform election date; and
WHEREAS, t11e City and the County desire to hold joint elections in the election precincts that can be served
by common polling places; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 271.002 of the Texas Election Code, the terms of the joint election
include the City agreeing to pay a portion of the County's election costs in exchange for 111e County:
y providing the voting equipment and supplies for early voting by personal appearance and mail
and for election day;
r providing election workers;
setting Llp 111C polling places;
:- serving as the Early Voting Ballot Board;
programming and operating the al.ltomatic tabulating equipllient; and
1pw establishino and organizing t11e Central Counting Station; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BYTHE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section L That the City Council of 111c Cite of Baytown, Texas, hereby authorizes the City Manager
to negotiate and enter into a joint election agreement ���ith Ch tnlbcrs County for the municipal election to be held
on the 21,11 clay of November, 2021, under terms iuid coiic[itions acceptable to the City Manager and the City
Attorney,
Section 2: That the City COLllrcil of the City of Baytown.. Texas, authorizes payrnelit to Chambers
County in an amount not to exceed THIRTY THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS (S30,000.00), pursuant to
the aureement identified in Section I hereof.
Section a: This ordinance shall take effect immediately f`ronl and after its passage by the City Council
of the City of Baytown.
