2005 06 20 CC Minutes, SpecialMINUTES OF THE SPECIAL SESSION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN June 20, 2005 8:00 a.m. The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, met in special session on June 20, 2005, at 8:00 a.m. in the Council Chamber of Baytown City Hall with the following in attendance: Don Murray Council Member Scott Sheley Council Member Calvin Mundinger Mayor Gary M. Jackson City Manager Ignacio Ramirez, Sr. City Attorney Gary W. Smith City Clerk Absent were: Ronnie Anderson Council Member Brandon Capetillo Council Member Sammy Mahan Council Member Mercedes Renteria III Council Member The meeting was called to order with a quorum present and the following business was conducted: Consider Proposed Resolution No. 050620 -1, canvassing the returns of the runoff election held on June 11, 2005. Pursuant to the Election Code requiring the Council to canvass the returns of an election not earlier than the eighth day or later than the eleventh day after the date of the election, the City Council conducted the official canvass. The results were as follows: Council Member District No. 1 Fred S. Aguilar Mercedes Renteria III 351 votes 373 votes Council Member Sheley moved approval of the proposed resolution canvassing the results of the runoff election held on June 11, 2005. Council Member Murray seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Council Members Murray and Sheley Mayor Mundinger. Nays: None. The motion carried. Page 2 of 2 Minutes of the Special Session — June 20, 2005 RESOLUTION NO. 1725 A RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RETURNS OF THE RUN -OFF ELECTION HELD WITHIN THE CITY OF BAYTOWN ON THE IIT" DAY OF JUNE, 2005, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING ONE COUNCIL MEMBER FROM DISTRICT NO. ONE, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE RUN -OFF ELECTION; FINDING THAT NOTICE OF THE RUN -OFF ELECTION WAS PROPERLY HELD AND THE RETURNS THEREOF MADE BY THE PROPER OFFICIALS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF TEXAS; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. Adjourn. Council Member Murray moved that the meeting adjourn. Council Member Sheley seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Council Members Murray and Sheley Mayor Mundinger. Nays: None.
