2005 05 16 CC Minutes, SpecialMINUTES OF THE SPECIAL SESSION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN May 16, 2004 8:00 a.m. The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, met in special session on May 16, 2004, at 8:00 a.m. in the Council Chamber of Baytown City Hall with the following in attendance: Mercedes Renteria III Calvin Mundinger Gary M. Jackson Bob Leiper Ignacio Ramirez, Sr. Gary W. Smith Absent were: Scott Sheley Sheryl Ward Don Murray Ronnie Anderson Sammy Mahan Council Member Mayor City Manager Deputy City Manager City Attorney City Clerk Council Member Council Member Council Member Council Member Council Member The meeting was opened at 8:28 a.m. with a quorum and the following business was conducted: Consider Proposed Resolution No. 050516 -1, canvassing the returns of the general election held on May 7, 2005. Pursuant to the Election Code requiring the Council to canvass the returns of an election not earlier than the eighth day or later than the eleventh day after the date of the election, the City Council conducted the official canvass. The results were as follows: Council Member District No. 1 Fred S. Aguilar 189 votes Lawrence Wallace 46 votes Mercedes Renteria III 202 votes Council Member District No. 2 Vivian Cisneros Hemphill 161 votes Scott Sheley 222 votes Council Member District No. 3 Sheryl G. Ward 334 votes Brandon Capetillo 342 votes Page 2 of 2 Minutes of the Special Session — May 16, 2005 Council Member Renteria moved approval of the proposed resolution canvassing the results of the OW general and special election held on May 7, 2005. Mayor Mundinger seconded the motion. The vote follows: 5i Ayes: Council Member Renteria. Mayor Mundinger. Nays: None. The motion carried. RESOLUTION NO. 1716 A RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RETURNS OF THE REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD WITHIN THE CITY OF BAYTOWN ON THE 7TH DAY OF MAY, 2005, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING ONE COUNCIL MEMBER FROM DISTRICT NO. ONE, ONE COUNCIL MEMBER FROM DISTRICT NO. 2, AND ONE COUNCIL MEMBER FROM DISTRICT NO. 3; FINDING THAT NOTICE OF THE ELECTION WAS PROPERLY HELD AND THE RETURNS THEREOF MADE BY THE PROPER OFFICIALS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF TEXAS; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. Adjourn. Council Member Renteria moved that the meeting adjourn. Mayor Mundinger seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Council Member Renteria. Mayor Mundinger. Nays: None. The motion carried. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:46 a.m. City Clerk
