2003 05 07 CC Minutes, SpecialMINUTES OF THE SPECIAL SESSION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN May 7, 2003 8:00 a.m. The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, met in special session on May 7, 2003, at 8:00 a.m. in the Council Chamber of the Baytown City Hall with the following in attendance: Don Murray Pete C. Alfaro Gary Jackson Ignacio Ramirez, Sr. Gary W. Smith The following Council Members were absent: Ronnie Anderson Coleman Godwin Calvin Mundinger Mercedes Renteria III Scott Sheley Council Member Mayor City Manager City Attorney City Clerk Council Member Council Member Council Member Council Member Council Member The meeting was opened with a quorum present after which the following business was conducted: Consider Proposed Resolution No. 030507 -1, canvassing the May 3, 2003 General Election. Pursuant to the Election Code requiring the Council to canvass the returns of an election no sooner than two days, nor more than six days, after the date of the election, the City Council conducted the official canvass. The results were as follows: Council Member District No. 2 Gil Gerlich 60 votes Scott Sheley 187 votes Council Member District No. 3 Mitchell Pearce 23 votes Calvin Mundinger 307 votes Cindy A. Gudgell 73 votes. Council Member Murray moved adoption of the proposed resolution. Mayor Alfaro seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Council Member Murray Mayor Alfaro. Nays: None. r The motion carried. RESOLUTION NO. 1586 A RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RETURNS OF THE REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD WITHIN THE CITY OF BAYTOWN ON THE 3RD DAY OF MAY, 2003, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING ONE COUNCIL MEMBER FROM DISTRICT NO. 2 AND ONE COUNCIL MEMBER FROM DISTRICT NO. 3; FINDING THAT NOTICE OF THE ELECTION WAS PROPERLY HELD AND THE RETURNS THEREOF MADE BY THE PROPER OFFICIALS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF TEXAS; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. Adjourn. There being no further business, Council Member Murray moved adjournment of the meeting. Mayor Alfaro seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Council Member Murray Mayor Alfam.
