2002 06 05 CC Minutes, SpecialMINUTES OF THE SPECIAL SESSION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN June 5, 2002 8:00 a.m. The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, met in special session on June 5, 2002, at 8:00 a.m. in the Council Chamber of the Baytown City Hall with the following in attendance: Ronnie Anderson Coleman Godwin Calvin Mundinger Mercedes Renteria III Pete C. Alfaro Monte Mercer Gary W. Smith The following Council Members were absent: Don Murray Scott Sheley Council Member Council Member Council Member Council Member Mayor City Manager City Clerk Council Member Council Member The meeting was opened with a quorum present after which the following business was conducted: Consider Proposed Resolution No. 020605 -1, canvassing the returns of the Mayoral Runoff Election held on June 1, 2002. Pursuant to the Election Code requiring the Council to canvass the returns of an election no sooner than two days, nor more than six days, after the date of the election, the City Council conducted the official canvass. The results were as follows: Mayor Pete C. Alfaro Charles "T- Bone" Shaffer 2,832 votes 2,780 votes Council Member Anderson moved adoption of the proposed resolution. Council Member Mundinger seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Council Members Anderson, Godwin, Mundinger, and Renteria. Mayor Alfaro. Nays: None. rK The motion carried. Page 2 of 2 t0� Minutes of the Special Session —June 5, 2002 RESOLUTION NO. 1547 A RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RETURNS OF THE MAYORAL RUNOFF ELECTION HELD WITHIN THE CITY OF BAYTOWN ON THE 1ST DAY OF JUNE, 2002, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A MAYOR FROM THE CITY AT LARGE; DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE ELECTION; FINDING THAT NOTICE OF THE ELECTION WAS PROPERLY HELD AND THE RETURNS THEREOF MADE BY THE PROPER OFFICIALS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF TEXAS; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. Adjourn. There being no further business, Council Member Mundinger moved adjournment of the meeting. Council Member Anderson seconded the motion.
