Consider Proposed Ordinance No. 950503 -1, Awarding Contract on
Emergency Basis for Baker Road Sanitary Sewer Repair Project
The Baker Road Sanitary Sewer Repair Project has been in emergency
status because of a cave -in on Baker Road, but an engineering solution was
needed prior to seeking bids. Five bids were received for the project. Pate and
Pate Enterprises, Inc. was low bidder for the amount of $345,555. This bid is higher
than the engineering estimate due to soil conditions, the location of the box culvert,
and the need to redirect traffic to accomplish the project. Also, area contractors
have a lot of work at this time. With the completion of this project, most of the sewer
rehabilitation funds will be depleted. The administration recommended approval of
the ordinance.
