Consider Proposed Ordinance Authorizing payment to Insituform Gulf South, Inc.
The city manager explained that an eight inch sanitary sewer line behind
Hillhurst had failed requiring bypass pumping. The line ranges from nine to thirteen
feet deep with eight houses tied to the line. A large storage building located in the
immediate vicinity of the sewer line may need to be removed to make point repairs.
The City has a contract with Insituform Gulf South, Inc. to repair sanitary
sewers on an emergency basis. They have examined the site and prepared an
estimate of the cost to line the sewer with eight inch cured in place pipe. They have
special cleaning equipment to break through obstructions and may be able to line the
sewer without having to dig and perform the point repairs. However, the
administration requested authorization for payment up to the sum of Sixty -Five
Thousand Two Hundred Sixty -Five and No /100 Dollars ($65,265.00) in the event
point repairs are necessary.
The administration recommended approval of the ordinance. Council Member
