Minutes of the Special Session - Oct. 15, 1992
Council emphasized the difficulty of the decision and
explained that they would be looking for a well rounded,
independent individual, with no agenda other than moving the city
forward.
Council member Pruett moved to appoint David Byford to fill
Council District No. 5 vacancy. Council member DonCarlos
seconded the motion.
Council member Alfaro pointed out that Mr. Byford has an
extensive business background which would be very helpful as a
council member. He has also served in county government.
Council member Alfaro emphasized that the petition presented on
behalf of Mr. Byford would not be a determining factor because
this is not an election.
Council member Benavides stressed that the person appointed
should in no way be compared to former council member Hullum.
The vote follows:
Ayes: Council members Benavides,
Alfaro, DonCarlos and Pruett
Mayor Credille
