OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN
August 24, 1992
The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, met in
special session on Monday, August 24, 1992, at 6:00 p.m. in the
Conference Room of the Baytown City Hall, 2401 Market Street,
with the following in attendance:

The meeting was called to order with a quorum present, after
which the following business was conducted:
Consider Proposed Ordinance, Repealing Ordinance No. 6313 and
Awarding Bid for Purchase of Tax Statement Forms
At the last council meeting by adoption of Ordinance No.
6313, council awarded the bid for purchase of tax statement
forms. The low bidder has notified the administration that the
company will be unable to complete the contract because the tax
statement forms do not meet postal regulations. The forms bid
are 3 1/4" in width, while the forms required are 3 1/211 in
width. The administration recommended awarding the contract to
the second low bidder, Wallace Computer Services for the amount
of $3,083.40.
Council member Pruett moved for adoption of the ordinance.
Council member DonCarlos seconded the motion. The vote follows:

Ordinance No. 6321
AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 6313 ADOPTED AUGUST 13,
1992; AWARDING THE BID FOR THE PURCHASE OF TAX STATEMENTS;
AUTHORIZING PAYMENT BY THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, THE SUM OF THREE
THOUSAND EIGHTY -THREE AND 40/100 ($3,083.40) DOLLARS; AND
PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.

Consider Proposed Ordinance, Authorizing Renewal of Flood
Coverages with National Flood Program for 1992 -93
Originally, it was planned to place this item on the agenda
for Thursday. However, with the approach of Hurricane Andrew, it
was determined to be a public necessity in order to have the
check cut and in the mail before the end of the month. The
administration recommended approval.
Council member Pruett moved for adoption of the ordinance.
Council member Alfaro seconded the motion. The vote follows:

Ordinance No. 6322
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FOURTEEN THOUSAND FIFTY -
SIX AND N01100 ($14,056.00) DOLLARS TO THE FIRST AGENCY, INC. AS
THE COST FOR FLOOD RENEWAL PREMIUM; AND PROVIDING FOR THE
EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
Report on Hurricane Andrew
Howard Brister, Director of Emergency Management, reported
that the staff had held a meeting with various care facilities at
4:00 p.m. to notify those facilities that in the event of
evacuation due to Hurricane Andrew, those facilities, not the
City of Baytown, would be responsible for the transfer of
patients. Plans are to man the Emergency Operation Center until
10:00 p.m. tonight and reopen at 6:00 a.m. in the morning. The
hurricane presently is 773 miles from Baytown.
