EMERGENCY MEETING
OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN
21, 1991
City of Baytown, Texas, met in
June 21, 1991, at 10:30 a.m. in
town City Hall with the following
Councilman
Councilman
Councilman
Mayor Pro Tempore
City Manager
City Attorney
City Clerk
Councilman
Councilman
Mayor
The meeting was called to order with a quorum present, after
which the following business was conducted:
Consider Proposed Ordinance Awarding Bid on Emergency Basis for
Repair of Vactor Truck
The high pressure water pump, an integral part of the vactor
truck, used for cleaning sewer lines has failed. The vactor
truck is used for correcting sewer stops, cleaning sewer wet
wells at lift stations and treatment plants, and cleaning storm
sewer boxes and culverts. If a vactor truck were available for
rent it would cost $3,600 per week to rent. This is not a common
item. Therefore, there is the possibility that one would not be
available for rent. Repair of the high pressure water pump will
cost $3,500 and require 4 to 5 hours to complete. The truck is
used extensively during heavy rains. Therefore, the
administration recommended that the truck be repaired under
emergency basis.
Councilman Johnson moved for adoption of the ordinance.
Councilman Credille seconded the motion. The vote follows:

Ordinance No. 5902
AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THAT AN EMERGENCY SITUATION EXISTS,
AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF THE SUM OF THREE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED
AND N01100 ($3,500.00) DOLLARS TO NAYLOR SUPPLY CO., INC. AS THE
SOLE SOURCE FOR THE REPAIR OF THE PEABODY MYERS HIGH PRESSURE
WATER PUMP ON THE VACTOR TRUCK, UNIT 6 -6; AND PROVIDING FOR THE
EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
Consider Proposed Ordinance Awarding Bid on Emergency Basis for
Repair of Air Conditioning System at Civic Center
Since information was not available for the staff to draft
an ordinance, the city manager indicated that if council had no
objections, the staff would proceed. If the air conditioning
system is in need of major repairs, the staff would take formal
bids and bring those to council at the next council meeting.
Council had no objection to the city manager expending up to
$10,000 to effect repairs to the system if he felt it necessary.
Adjourn
There being no further business to be transacted, the
meeting was adjourned.
