1980 08 21 CC Minutes, SpecialrA 00821 -1 MINUTES OF THE EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN August 21, 1980 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, met in emergency session on Thursday, August 21, 1980, at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber of the Baytown City Hall with the following members in attendance: Jimmy Johnson Mary E. Wilbanks Allen Cannon Emmett 0. Hutto Fritz Lanham Randy Strong Eileen P. Ball Absent: Fred T. Philips Perry Simmons Eileen Caffey Dan Savage Councilman Councilwoman Councilman Mayor City Manager City Attorney City Clerk Councilman Councilman Councilwoman Assistant City Manager The meeting was called to order and Norman Dykes, City Engineer /Director of Public Works explained that Harris County Flood Control District has agreed to install pipe under Kilgore Road at HCFCD Ditch No. Q105 -00 -00 in accordance with plans discussed at the last Council meeting. Emergency bids were taken for purchase of 12 gauge pipe since neither company contacted had 10 gauge pipe on hand. The necessity for emergency bids is that the County's work is now in progress and the pipe will only be installed if the City can deliver some within a few days. The Administration recommended accepting the bid of Texas Corrugators, Inc. for purchase of corrugated, coated metal pipe on an emergency basis and authorizing the expenditure of $9,549.65. Councilman Cannon moved for adoption of the ordinance; Councilman Johnson seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Council members Johnson, Wilbanks and Cannon Mayor Hutto Nays: None ORDINANCE NO. 2957 AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THAT AN EMERGENCY SITUATION EXISTS; ACCEPTING THE BID OF TEXAS CORRUGATORS, INC. FOR THE PURCHASE OF CORRUGATED, COATED METAL PIPE; AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF NINE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED FORTY -NINE AND 65/100 ($9,549.65) DOLLARS WITH REGARD TO SUCH ACCEPTANCE; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
