1978 03 20 CC Minutes, Special80320 -1 MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN March 20, 1978 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, met in special session Monday, March 20, 1978, at 8:00 a.m. in the Council Chamber of the Baytown City Hall. The following members were in attendance: Jack Kimmons Ted Kloesel Mary E. Wilbanks Emmett Hutto Allen Cannon Tom Gentry Fritz Lanham Dan Savage Scott Bounds Eileen P. Hall Absent:Jody Lander Councilman Councilman Councilwoman Councilman Councilman Mayor City Manager Assistant City Manager City Attorney City Clerk Councilman Mayor Gentry called the meeting to order. Scott Bounds, City Attorney, explained that Proposed Ordinance No. 80320 -1 would amend Ordinance No. 2424 to designate Pumphrey Elementary as the polling place for that portion of Harris County Voting Precinct No. 96 within the City of Baytown. Mr. Bounds also explained in response to a question from Council that notice would be published in the newspaper setting forth where those persons residing within the City of Baytown, but within Harris County Precinct No. 96 would vote for the Municipal Election. Councilman Kloesel moved for the adoption of the ordinance; Councilman Kimmons seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Council members Kimmons, Kloesel, Wilbanks, Hutto and Cannon Mayor Gentry Nays: None ORDINANCE NO. 2429 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2424 TO DESIGNATE A POLLING PLACE FOR THE PORTION OF HARRIS COUNTY VOTING PRECINCT NO. 96 WITHIN THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, ORDERING THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE 1ST DAY OF APRIL, 1978, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING THREE (3) COUNCILMEN FROM THE RESPECTIVE DISTRICT NUMBERS ONE (1), FOUR (4), AND FIVE (S), AND THE ELECTION OF A ,MAYOR FROM THE CITY AT LARGE; PROVIDING FOR ELECTION OFFICERS; DESIGNATING TIME PLACES AND MANNER OF HOLDING SAID ELECTION; PRESCRIBING THE HOURS; PROVIDING FOR A CANVASSING BOARD AND ABSENTEE BALLOTS; AND PROVIDING FOR THE POSTING AND PUBLICATION OF NOTICE.
