MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN
February 1, 1974
The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, met in special session on Friday,
February 1, 1974, at 7:00 a.m., in the Conference Room of the Baytown City Hall
with the following members present:
Charles Pool Councilman
Henry Dittman Councilman
Jody Lander Councilman
• Fred Bednarski Councilman
Mary Wilbanks Councilwoman
Tom Gentry Mayor
Fritz Lanham City Manager
Jon Pfennig Assistant City Attorney

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Gentry and the first agenda item
was considered.
Award Bid - Truck & Chassis
Bids were opened on Monday, January 28 for a 10 -yard water level dump body.
Only one bid was received prior to the scheduled hour of 10:30 a.m.
A second bid was submitted too late for consideration. It was the recommendation
of the Administration thatthe bid of Jim Ball on an International F -2050 at
$19,349.50 be accepted. Councilman Pool moved, seconded by Councilman Dittman,
to accept the recommendation of the administration. The vote follows:
Ayes: Council member Pool Dittman, Lander and Wilbanks

ORDINANCE NO. 1537
A N ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, ACCEPTING
THE BID OF JIM BALL INTERNATIONAL, INC., FOR THE PURCCASE OF ONE CAB AND
CHASSIS FOR A 10 -YARD WATER LEVEL DUMP BODY AND AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT BY
THE CITY OF THE SUM OF NINETEEN THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED FORTY -NINE AND 50 /100
($19,349.50) DOLLARS WITH REGARD TO SUCH ACCEPTANCE.
Award Bid - Twelve Yard Dump Body
Bids on a 12 -yard dump body for the above cab and chassis were received from
the following named companies.
Garwood - Houston: $2,496.00 Fontaine Truck Cc: $2,456.85
Hobbs Trailers $2,700.00
rIt was the recommendation of the Administration that the low bid of Fontaine
Truck Company be accepted. Councilman Dittman moved, seconded by Councilman
Lander to accept the recommendation of the Administration and to award
the bid to Fontaine Truck Company. The vote follows:
Ayes: Council members Pool, Dittman, Lander and Wilbanks

ORDINANCE NO. 1538
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, ACCEPTING
THE BID OF FONTAINE TRUCK COMPANY FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE 12 -YARD DUMP BODY
AND AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT BY THE CITY OF THE SUM OF TWO THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED
FIFTY -SIX AND 851100 ($2,456.85) DOLLARS WITH REGARD TO SUCH ACCEPTANCE..

* Exceptions to specifications
it was the recommendation that the bid of Hyco Equipment Company be accepted
as it met the bid specifications in its entirety. Councilman Lander moved,
seconded by Councilman Dittman, to accept the recommendation of the Administration
and award the bid to Hyco Equipment, Inc.

ORDINANCE NO. 1539
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS ACCEPTING
THE BID OF HYCO EQUIPMENT, INC., FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE CRAWLER BACKHOE,
HYDRAULIC ADAPTER, AND DIGGING BUCKET AND AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT BY
THE CITY OF THE SUM OF FORTY THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED AND N01100 ($40,500.00)
WITH REGARD TO SUCH ACCEPTANCE.
*Councilm.M Bednarski arrives at meeting.
Award Bid - Chainlink Fence for Sanitary Landfill
Only one bid was received on the advertisement of 2,100 feet of chain -link
to be installed around the sanitary landfill at Coady. The bid was submitted by
Hurricane Industrial in the amount of $15,692.00 with a warranty of one year.
Following some discussion for clarification, Councilman Pool moved, seconded
by councilman Lander, to award the bid to Hurricane Industrial;
Ayes: Council members Lander, Pool, Bednarski, Dittman and W.Ubanks

ORDINANCE NO. 1540
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, ACCEPTING
THE BID OF HURRICANE INDUSTRIAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE 2,100 FOOT CHAIN
LINK FENCE AND AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT BY THE CTTY OF THE SUM OF FIFTEEN
THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED NINETY -TWO AND N01100 ($15,692.00) DOLLARS WITH REGARD
TO SUCH ACCEPTANCE.
There being no further business to transact, Councilman Lander moved, seconded
by Councilman Bednarski that the meeting adjourn. The mayor declared the meeting
adjourned.
