1972 08 29 CC Minutes, Special5285 MINUTES OF THE SBECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN August 29, 1972 The City Council of the City of Baytown met in Special Session on Tuesday, August 29, 6:30 p.m., in the Council Chamber of the Baytown City Hallwith the following members in attendance: Jody Lander Tom Gentry Charles Pool Jim McWilliams Allen Cannon C. Glen Walker Fritz Lanham Neel Richardson Howard Northcutt Belinda Bingham Absent: C. 0. Walker Edna Oliver Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman Mayor City Manager City Attorney Administrative Ass't Deputy City Clerk Councilman City Clerk Mayor Walker called the meeting to order and the following item of business was transacted: Award Bid - Phase II of 1972 Street Improvement Program Bids for hase II of the 1972 Street Improvement Program were received August 25. The tabulation follows: Brown & Root, Inc. $148,157.95 110 days Warren Brothers $169,088.65 120 days Skrla, Inc. $158,957.50 100 days Although Brown & Root's low bid is under the estimated cost of Phase II of the Program, there is not a sufficient amount remaining in the Street Program budget to cover the bid. Mr. Lanham indicated a transfer of funds could be made in September to make up the difference. Mr. Lanham recommended accepting the low bid of Brown & Root with the understanding Council will be requested to authorize the transfer-in September. Councilman McWilliams moved to accept the Administration's recommendation, Councilman Lander seconded the motion. Mr. Richardson read the caption of the ordinance awarding the bid. The vote and caption follow: Ayes: Councilmen Lander, Gentry, Pool, McWilliams, and Cannon Mayor Walker Nays: None ORDINANCE NO. 1268 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, ACCEPTING THE BID OF BROWN & ROOT, INC., FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF PHASE II, OF THE 1972 STREET IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM AND AUTHORIZING THE CONTRACTING OF INDEBTEDNESS BY THE CITY FOR THE SUM OF ONE HUNDRED FORTY -EIGHT THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED FIFTY -SEVEN AND 95/100 ($148,157.95) DOLLARS WITH REGARD TO SUCH AGREEMENT.
