MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL
MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS
November 1, 1971
The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, met in special session
Monday, November 1, 1971, at 5:00 o'clock p.m., in the Conference Room of the
Baytown City Hall, with the following members in attendance:

The Mayor called the meeting to order and astated that the purpose of the
special meeting was to consider acquisition of the following right -of -way on Garth
Road to -wit:
Mrs. T. W. Wilks
BEING that tract of land out of the Harvey Whiting Survey, A -480, and being
a part of Lot 13, Block 8, Morrell Park, Section One, recorded by a subdivision
plat in Volume 12 at Page 1, Harris County Map Records Harris County, Texas, and
being more particularly described by metes and bounds as follows:
BEGINNING at the Southwest corner of the aforementioned Lot 13,
being the Point of Intersection of the East right -of -way line of
Garth Road with the North right9of -way line of Gresham Avenue;
THENCE North 88012'16" East with the North right -of -way line of Gresham
Avenue a distance of 10.0 feet to a corner;
THENCE North 1047'44" West parallel to the West right -of -way line of
Garth Road a distance of 120.0 feet to a corner in the common boundary
line of Lots 1 & 13, Block 8, Morrell Park, Section One;
THENCE South 88012'16" West with the said common boundary line of Lots
1 & 13 a distance of 10.0 feet to a corner in the:East sight -of -way line
of Garth Road being also the Northwest corner of Lot 13;
THENCE, south 1047'44" East with the East right- Of-way line of Garth Road
a distance of 120.0 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING enclosing a tract of
land containing 0.0275 acres more or less.

part of Lot 1, Block 8, Morrell Park , Section 1, as recorded by a subdivision
plat in Volume 12, at Page 1, Harris County Map Records, Harris County, Texas,
and being more particularly described by metes and bounds as follows:
BEGINNING at the Southwest corner of the above mentioned Lot 1, being
in the East right -of -way line of Garth Road;
THENCE North 88012'16" East with the common boundary line of Lots 7 and 13,
Block 8, Morrell Park, Section 1, a distance of 10.0 feet to a corner;

Road a distance of 120.0 feet to a corner situated in the common
boundary line of Lots 4 & 8, Block 9, Morrell Park, Section One;
THENCE, South 88012'16" West with the said common boundary of
Lot 4 & 8 a distance of 10.0 feet to a corner;

After a lengthy discussion between the members of the City Council and
Otis Graham, right -of -way agent fortheCity of Baytown, a motion was made, seconded
and unanimously passed declaring that public convenience and necessity dictated
that the above mentioned property be purchased for public use and further that
the City Attorney be authorized to offer the owners of the property the following
sums forthe fee simple title to said property; to -wit:

in the event such offers were refused or not accepted with five (5) days.
There being no further business to come before the Council, motion was
duly made, seconded and unanimously passed that the meeting adjourn.
