1971 09 20 CC Minutes, Special5080 MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN September 20, 1971 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, met in special session on Monday, September 20, 1971, at 5:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers of the Baytown City Hall with the following members in attendance: Ted Kloesel Councilman C. O. Walker Councilman Jody Lander Councilman L. W. Stasney Councilman Allen Cannon Councilman Jim McWilliams Councilman D. R. Voelkel City Manager Howard Northcutt Adm. Assistant Neel Richardson City Attorney Absent: C. Glen Walker Mayor The Council continued its review of the 1971 -72 proposed budget, afterwhich the following business was transacted. Councilman Kloesel made a motion seconded by Councilman Cannon, that the City Council authorize the Finance Department to make payroll deductions for associations and unions composed of employees of the City upon the authorization of each employee. For: Councilman Cannon Councilman Kloesel Councilman Lander Councilman McWilliams Opposed: Councilman Walker Councilman Stasney Absent: Mayor Walker As a result of a request by the County Health Nurse, Mrs. Al Johnson, a committee composed of Ted Kloesel, Chairman and Charley Walker, was appointed to work with officials of Harris County toward additional staff for the County Health Unit in Baytown. Repair Sewer Line - Creekwood Mr. Jack Morton, City Engineer informed Council of a collapsed sewer line in the vicinity Naylor Supply Company is presently repairing lines. Naylor has offered two proposals to repair the additional line: (1) The City furnish pipe and Naylor will install it on the basis of $3.86 per front foot, (2) Naylor will supply, deliver, and install the pipe on the basis of $5.75 per foot. This *till amount to approximately $ 1,581.25. Mr. Morton stated the City would realize no savings by purchasing the pipe .separately and supplying it to Naylor Supply Company. Councilman Cannon moved to accept the second proposal of $5.75 per foot. Councilman Stasney seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Councilmen Lander, Stasney, Kloesel, McWilliams, Walker and Cannon Mayor Walker Nays: None The caption of the ordiannce follows: ORDINANCE NO. 1123 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, DECLARING THAT AN EMERGENCY SITUATION EXISTS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND THE CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH NAYLOR SUPPLY COMPANY FOR THE REPAIR OF APPROXIMATELY TWO HUNDRED SEVENTY -FIVE FEET OF SEWER LINE AT A COST OF FIVE DOLLARS AND 75/100 ($5.75) PER FOOT AND AUTHORIZING THE CONTRACTING OF INDEBTEDNESS BY THE CITY FOR THE SUM OF APPROXIMATELY ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED EIGHTY4-0NE AND 25/100 ($1,581.25) DOLLARS WITH REGARD TO SUCH AGREEMENT, AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. 4�ti 1 ��
