1971 08 23 CC Minutes, Special5068 MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN August 23, 1971 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, met in special session on Monday, August 23, 1971 at 6:30 p.m., in the Council Room of the Baytown City Hall with the following members in attendance: Ted Kloesel C. O. Walker Jody Lander Leonard Stasney Allen Cannon Jim MCWilliaans Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman Glen Walker Mayor D. R. Voelkel City Manager Howard Northcutt Adm. Assistant Neel Richardson City Attorney Edna Oliver City Clerk The Council covered a partial review of the 1971 -72 proposed budget, after - which the following business was transacted: Proposal Rectuest Southwest Video Corporation Cease Contracts -Hear Local Grou Councilman McWilliams stated that he had been contacted by local citizens who are interested in setting up a CATV operation in Baytown, and proposed asking Southwest Video Corporation to cease and desist from making other contacts until the local group has an opportunity to be heard. He concluded with a motion to suspend the temporary permit of Southwest Video Corporation until the next regular meeting to give the second group an- opportunity to appear before the Council, and that the Committee work out the guidelines from that point on. Councilman Stasney seconded the motion. A lengthly discussion followed before the vote was called. The i results follow: Ayes: Councilmen Stasney and McWilliams Mayor Walker Nays: Councilmen Kloesel, Walker and Cannon Abstained: Councilman Lander Mayor Walker declared the motion failed for lacl[ of a majority.
