1971 01 20 CC Minutes, Special @5pm4915 MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN January 20, 1971 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas met in special session on Wednesday, January 20, 1971 at 5:00 p.m., in the Council Room of the Baytown City Hall with the following members in attendance: David Evans Councilman Leonard Stasney Councilman Lamar Kelley Councilman C. Glen Walker Mayor D. R. Voelkel City Manager Howard Northcutt Administrative Assistant W. R. Laughlin City Attorney Edna Oliver City Clerk ABSENT: Ted Kloesel Councilman The Mayor called the meeting to order. He explained that the special meeting was held in order to abide by state statues that require the first reading of annexation ordinances to be within a 10 -20 day period after a public hearing was held on the proposed annexation. The hearing on this proposed annexation was held on January 7. Ordinance - First Reading Annexation Strip to U. S. Steel Property Chambers County Councilman Stasney made a motion to adopt, on first reading, an ordinance providing for the extension of a 10 foot wide strip. lying wholly within the right of way of FM Road 1405, FM Road 565 and State Highway 146 extending from a private owned road of U. S. Steel Corporation to a point on the southerly right of way line of Interstate Highway No. 10. Councilman Evans seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Councilmen Evans, Stasney and Kelley Mayor Walker Nays: None The caption of the ordinance follows: ORDINANCE NO. 1067 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS. Adjourn There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Kelley moved for the meeting to adjourn. Councilman Evans seconded the motion.
