The Mayor called the executive session to order and explained that the
purpose of the session was to discuss the acquisition of park land.
The City Attorney reviewed with the City Council his discussions with
Mr. A. M. Howell concerning the possible option by the City of a certain tract
owned by him adjacent to Ridgewood Subdivision. The City Attorney indicated that
Mr. Howell's tract had been listed at 10 acres, but an accurate survey would pro-
bably reveal only 8 and a fraction usable acres. The City Attorney inquired
whether the Council has been aware of such fact, and inquired whether such fact
would have a bearing on the Council's decision with regard to the tract. Council-
man Cannon stated that he did not believe the City should offer to pay more than
$5,500.00 per surveyed acre. Councilman Cannon therefor moved that the City
offer Mr. Howell $5,500.00 per surveyed acre, or a maximum of the original
$50,000.00, whichever sum shall be the lesser of the two. The motion was seconded
by Councilman Hullum, and the vote follows:
Ayes: Councilmen Evans, Hullum ,Cannon, Stasney, Kelley
Mayor Walker
Nays: None
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Council, Mayor Walker
declared the executive session adjourned.
