1970 06 03 CC Minutes, Executive Session4810 MINUTES OF AN EXECUTIVE MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN June 3, 1970 The City Council of the City of Baytown met in an executive session on Wednesday, June 3, 1970 at 5:00 p.m., in the Conference Room of the Baytown City Hall with the following members attending: David Evans Councilman , Don M. Hullum Councilman Allen Cannon Councilman -- Lamar Kelley Councilman C. Glen Walker Mayor D. R. Voelkel City Manager W. R. Laughlin City Attorney Also Present: Terry Dopson Parks & Recreations Director Bill Thompson Recreation Superintendent Wayne Gray P &R Advisory Board Henry Armstrong " Dick Moravek Mrs. Ora Mae Harding The Mayor called the meeting to order and explained that this was an ex- ecutive meeting of the Council for the purpose of discussing the acquisition of park land. Option on Jenkins Tract No. 22 Councilman Hullum moved to take option on Jenkins Tract No. 22, which in- cludes fifty acres. Councilman Kelley seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Councilmen Evans, Hullum, Cannon, and Kelley Mayor Walker Nays: None Option on Graham Tract No. 8 Councilman Kelley moved to take option on Graham Tract No. 8, which includes thirty acres. Councilman Evans seconded the motion. The vote followws: Ayes: Councilmen Evans, Hullum, Cannon, and Kelley Mayor Walker Nays: None Option on Howell Tract No. 12 Councilman Kelley moved to take option on Howell Tract No. 12, which includes ten acres. Councilman Hullum seconded the motion. The Vote follows: Ayes: Councilmen Evans, Hullum, Cannon, and Kelley Mayor Walker Nays: None Option on Miller Tract No. 5 - Hazelwood Property No 2 Councilman Cannon moved to take option on Miller Tract No. 5 which includes 16.78 acres. Discussion followed the motion and Councilman Evans voiced opposition to the Miller Tract. the motion died for lack of a second. A short discussion followed afterwhich, Councilman Kelley made an alternate motion to take option on the Miller Tract No. 5 and also on the Hazelwood Property No. 2, which includes fourteen acres in the Lakewood area. The motion was seconded by Councilman Evans. Discussion followed, afterwhich the vote was withdrawn without a vote. Action of the Miller Tract was then postponed pending further study. Option on Bailey Property on West Main No. 7 Councilman Hullum moved to take option on Bailey Property on West Main No. 7, which includes fifteen acres and also on Britton Property No. 25 which includes thirteen acres in Southwest Addition. Councilman Evans seconded the motion. The vote follows: 4811 Ayes: Councilmen Evans, Nullum and Kelley Mayor Walker Nays: Councilman Cannon Discussion followed, afterwhich, Councilman Hull= moved to delete Britton Property No. 25 until further study. Councilman Kelley seconded the motion. The vote follow: Ayes: Councilmen Evans, Hullum, Cannon and Kelley Mayor Walker Nays: None Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Council the Mayor declared the meeting adjourned.
