MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS
April 23, 1969
The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, met in special session on Wed-
nesday, April 23, 1969 in the Conference Roan of the Baytown City Hall with the follo
ing members in attendance:

Employ D. R. Voelkel, City Manager
The Council discussed the hiring of a new City Manager to replace Fritz
Lanham, Lamar Kelley, Chairman of the Selection ammittee, presented the Committee's
findings with regard to the selection of a City Manager. He concluded his report
with a reomm:endation to hire D. R. Voelkel, present City Manager of Kerrville, Texas,
to became Baytown's new City Manager at a beginning salary of $16,000 plus $90 per
month car allowance. Following some further discussion, Councilman Evans moved to
accept the reo=nerlation of the Council Committee. Councilman Cannon seconded
the motion. The vote follows:
Ayes: Councilmen Kelley, Evans, Hullmn, Cannon, and Stasney

Nays: Councilman Kloesel
Compensation - J. B. IeFeyre, Acting City Manager
Mayor Cravey suggested that extra conpensation be paid to J. B. LeFevre while
he is acting as City Manager during the interim from the resignation of Fritz Lanham
to the date the new City Manager officially takes office. The Council was in agree-
ment with the proposal and arrived at a figure of $350 as extra cmpensation for
the approximate two (2) month period he will be serving in the capacity of Acting
City Manager. Following the discussion, Councilman Hullum moved to approve the
extra o mpensat1on. Councilman Stasney seconded the motion. The vote follows:
Ayes: Councilmen Kloesel, Hullum, Evans, Stasney, Cannon, and Kelley

Adjourn:
There being no further business to come before the Council, the motion was
made and seconded that the meeting adjourn. The ayes weret&naxdhnws: and the Mayor
declared the meeting adjourned.
