MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS
October 31, 1968
The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, met�in special session on
Thursday, October 31, 1968, at 6:30 a.m., at the Holiday Inn, with the following
members in attendance:
Glen Walker Councilman
A. M. Braswell Councilman
Albert Fanestiel Councilman
Ted Kloesel Councilman
Don M. Hullum Councilman
Seaborn Cravey Mayor
Absent: Lamar Kelley Councilman
Others Present: Fritz Lanham City Manager
F. Ross Wilhite Director of Planning
Jimmy Woods Houston Post Reporter
�•:)uncil Authorizes Purchase of Three Used Chippers
The City Manager reported that the current budget includes $4,400.00 for
the purchase of a chipper to be used by the sanitation department. The City
manager reported that a Houston supplier has three used chippers on hand pur-
chased from the City of San Antonio and that the City of Baytown could acquire
these from Davis Truck Parts, Inc. for $550.00 each or a total of $1,650.00.
TZe supplier indicated that minor repairs and the purchase of batteries would
be necessary in order to put these three chippers in good working condition.
On motion by Councilman Braswell, seconded by Councilman Kloesel, the Council
authorized the purchase of the three chippers from the Davis Truck Parts, Inc.
in the amount of $1,650.00. The vote follows:
Ayes: Councilmen Braswell, Kloesel, Fanestiel, Walker & Hullum
Mayor Cravey.
Nays: None
Council Authorized Administration to Proceed With Preparation of Application
for Recertification of a Workable Program for Baytown.
Mayor Cravey and Director of Planning, Ross Wilhite, reported on their
recent trip to Fort Worth to confer with Housing & Urban Development officials
regarding the requirements for a workable program. After this report, on motion,
by Councilman Kloesel, seconded by Councilman Walker, the Council voted to pro-
ceed with the preparations of an application for recertification of a workable
program for Baytown. The vote follows:
Ayes: Councilmen Kloesel, Walker, Braswell, Fanestiel & Hullum.
Mayor Cravey.
Nays: None
Adjournment:
There being no further business to come before the Council, the motion was
made and seconded that the meeting adjourn. The ayes were unanimous and the
