1968 03 25 CC Minutes, Special4487 MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS March 25, 1968 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, met in special session on Mon- day, March 25, 1968, at 4:00 p.m., in the Conference Room of the City Hall with the following members in attendance: A. M. Braswell Councilman the motion was made and seconded that Albert Fanestiel Councilman Don M. Hullum Councilman Lamar Kelley Councilman Glen Walker Councilman Seaborn Cravey Mayor Fritz Lanham City Manager Representatives of United States Steel Corporation Adopt Ordinance - Industrial District Contract - U. S. Steel Councilman Lamar Kelley, Chairman of the Industrial District Committee, reported on the negotiations with United States Steel Corporation relative to an Industrial District Contract. Councilman Braswell stated that in view if the anticipated growth of the Baytown area he was most reluctant to tie future council's hands. However, Mr. Braswell stated that he agrees with the concept of Industrial District Contracts. He stated that he would have to oppose the contract on the basis of the payments pro- posed. Councilman Kelley moved to adopt the ordinance. Councilman Hullum seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Councilmen Kelley, Walker, Hullum Mayor Cravey Nays: Councilmen Braswell and Fanestiel The caption of the ordinance follows: I ORDINANCE NO. 915 AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING THE FORM AND THE TERMS, CONDI- TIONS AND CONSIDERATIONS OF A CONTRACT TO BE ENTERED INTO BETWEEN THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND UNITED STATES STEEL CORPORATION PURSUANT TO SECTION FIVE OF THE MUNICIPAL ANNEX- ATION ACT, ARTICLE 970a REVISED CIVIL STATUTUES OF TEXAS, CON- CERNING PROPERTIES OF UNITED STATES STEEL CORPORATION WITHIN BAYTOWN INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT NO. 3, AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION AND DELIVERY OF SUCH CONTRACT, AND CONTAINING OTHER PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT.
