Change Ordinance - East District Sanitary Sewer Job - Epoxy Lining (Main Stay)
At the June 22nd meeting, final action was deferred on the approval of a
change order in the East District Sanitary Sewer Contract, Job No. 151 -5, to permit
details of a cooperative agreement to be worked out which would prove to be of benefit
to the City of Baytown by using epoxy lined concrete pipe in lieu of the proposed
vitrified clay pipe. Mr. C. M. Whithead, Jr., president of Whitelak, Inc., the
successful bidder on the project submitted the following proposal:
"There has been some discussion as to placing an epoxy lining in 3,178
L.F - 36" and 21198 L.F. - 30" concrete pipe. When Mr. Lanham and I first
discussed same, we were offering to place the lining in 2,200 L.F. 36"
concrete pipe, as a promotional offer. Since there has been quite a bit
more added to the 2,200 L.F. - 36" pipe, we feel as though there should
be an addedcost.
"We propose the following:
31178 L.F. 36" concrete pipe - 9.4 SF /L.F.
29,873 S.F. @ •575/ S.F. $170176.98
2,198 L.F. 30" concrete pipe - 7.85 S.F. /L.F.
17,255 S.F. @ - •575/S.F. 9.921.6
$27:098.61
Less previous commitments -
2,200 L.F. - 36" concrete pipe - 9.4 S.F. /L.F.
20,680 S.F. @ .475/S.F. 82 .00
$17p275.61
After a lengthy discussion, Councilman Ball moved to approve the change order
by using the Main Stay epoxy lining in the 36" and 30" concrete pipe as proposed.
Councilman Walker seconded the motion. The vote follows:
