MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN
February 20, 1967
The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, met in special session on
Monday, February 20, 1967, at 6:30 a.m. at the Rebel Inn with the entire member-
ship in attendance, to -wit:

Right -of -Way - Davis Road
Mr. Grabam, who has been employed by the City to negotiate for the right
of way purchases along Davis- Martin Road, gave a status report on his contacts.
Mr. Grahma reported that G. D. Darks and Ruby Derks, owners of parcel eleven,
would be agreeable to accepting $4,250.00 in payment for the land required and
for damages to improvements. For this mount the Derks would agree to move
their house from its present location to a distance of ten to fourteen feet from
the new right of way line. On motion by Councilman Braswell, seconded by Council-
man Fanestiel, the Council voted to authorize Mr. Graham to make an offer of
$4,250.00 to Mr. and Mrs. Derks.
Mr. Graham next reported on his contacts with Mr. Theodore Purdy in con-
nection with parcels two, three, four, five and six. The third appraisal was
obtained on parcel four which includes the Purdy residence. On motion by Council-
man Ball, seconded by Councilman Braswell, the Council unanimously voted to autho-
rize Mr. Graham to make an offer to Mr. Purdy for the purchase of the entire lot
on which his house is located on the basis of thirty cents per square foot and
payment of $17,486.00 for the improvements located on this lot.
The Council next considered parcel number eight which belongs to John G.
Martin at al. On motion by Councilman Ball, seconded by Councilman Braswell, the
Council authorized Mr. Graham to make an offer of $1,200.00 to the Martin Estate
and in return the City would agree that there would be no assessment for paving.
At this point Mayor Cravey and Councilman Hullum left the meeting.

Increase Salary - Maurice Reed
Upon motion by Councilman Ball, seconded by Councilman Fanestiel, the Council
approved an increase in salary of Assistant Civil Engineer, Maurice Reed, from
$671.00 per month to $710.00 per month and to increase the budget item for an
additional engineer from $609.00 to $700.00 in order that we may be able to attract
applicants for this position.
There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting was
adjourned at 8:15 a.m.
