1965 04 20 CC Minutes, Special3043 MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN April 20, 1965 The City Council of the City of Baytown met in special session on Tuesday, April 20, 1965.at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Room of the Baytown City Hall with the following members in attendance: Robert Barnes David C. Clark Kenneth E. Badgett A. M. Braswell M. E. Lively J. C. Huron Seaborn Cravey Fritz Lanham Absent: George Chandler Edna Oliv er Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman Mayor City Manager City Attorney Clerk The Mayor.called the meeting to order and the following business was transacted: Purchase Car - Police Department The bids for furnishing one new 1965 model 4-door sedan automobile for the Police Department are tabulated as follows: Shields Motor Company Plymouth Belvedere $2,161.34 Less trade -in 650.00 wrecked Plymouth $1,511.34 Thad Felton of Baytown Ford Custom Fordor $2,208.34 Less Trade -in 500.00 wrecked Plymouth $1,708.34 Councilman Lively moved to accept the low bid of Shields Motor Company for the Plymouth Sedan. Councilman Huron seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Councilmen Barnes, Clark, Badgett, Braswell. Lively and Huron Mayor Cravey Nays: None Accept Resionation of Councilman Clark Mayor Cravey introduced and read a letter from Councilman David C. Clark sub- mitting his resignation as a member of the City Council because he has accepted a temporary overseas assignment which will require his being away from Baytown for and extended period. Councilman Clark asked that his resignation become effective immediately. Councilman Badgett moved to accept the.resignation of Councilman Clark dffective as of April 20, 1965. Councilmon.Huron seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Councilmen Barnes, Badgett, Clark, Braswell, Lively and Huron Mayor Cravey Nayes: None Appointment - Clem Massey - Councilman District No, 2 Councilman Barnes moved to appoint Clem Massey, 119 Burnet Drive, as Councilman from District No. 2 to fill unexpired term of Councilman Clark. Councilman Lively seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Councilmen Barnes, Clark, Badgett, Braswell, Lively and Huron. Mayor Cravey Nays: None Transfer Resolutions Councilman Lively moved to adopt a resolution transferring $1,000.00 from Budget Classification 108 -1 -3 to Budget Classification 108 -64 for special engineering services. Councilman Badgett seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Councilmen Barnes, Clark. Badgett, Braswell, Lively.and Huron. Mayor Cravey Nays: None The caption of the resolution follows: RESOLUTION NO. 74 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO TRANSFER ONE THOUSAND ($1,000.00) DOLLARS FROM BUDGET ACCOUNT 108 -1 -3 TO BUDGET ACCOUNT 108 -64. Councilman Lively moved to adopt a resolution transferring Sixty ($60) Dollars from the Council Contingency Fund to purchase machinery, tools and implements. Councilman Badgett seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Councilmen Barnes, Clark, Badgett, Braswell, Lively and Huron. Mayor Cravey Nays: None The caption of the resolution follows: RESOLUTION NO. 75 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, OF THE CITY COUNCIL, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO TRANSFER SIXTY ($60.00) DOLLARS FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCY FUND TO BUDGET ACCOUNT NO. 103 -10 -2. Councilman Lively moved to adopt a resolution transferring Two Hundred Twenty - Five ($225.00) Dollars from the Council Contingency Fund to pay remaining cost of new car for the police department. Councilman Badgett seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Councilmen Barnes, Clark, Badgett, Braswell, Lively and Huron Mayor Cravey Nays: None The caption of the resolution follows: RESOLUTION NO. 76 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO TRANSFER TWO.HUNDRED TWENTY -FIVE ($225.00) DOLLARS FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCY. FUND TO BUDGETT ACCOUNT NO. 201 -10 -4. . Next Council Meetinc The next meeting of the City Council will be held Wednesday, May 12th at which time the election returns of the May 1st election will be canvassed, also, other items of business.
