1964 10 28 CC Minutes, Special2074 MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN October 28, 1%4 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, met in special session on Wed- nesday. October 28, 1964. at 5:00 p.m, in the City Manager's office of the Baytown City Hall with the following members in attendance: J. Robert Barnes David C. Clark Kenneth E. Badgett Seaborn Cravey J. C. Huron George Chandler Fritz Lanham Others present: Thad Felton Joe B. Brack Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman Mayor Pro Tem- City Attorney City Manager Attorney The City Manager explained that the purpose of this meeting was to present to the Council a request from Thad Felton of Baytown that the decision made at the October 22, 1964, council meeting rejecting the bid of Thad Felton of Baytown for three (3) vehicles be reconsidered, that the bid of Felton be accepted as the low bid and that the Ford dealership be allowed to supply the City these vehicles. In the alternative, Thad Felton of Baytown requested that a public hearing be granted. (Copy of the letter requesting such hearing is attached) After discussing the matter, on motion by Councilman Barnes, seconded by Council- man Badgett, the Council voted unanimously to grant Mr. Felton a public hearing if he so desires. Councilman Barnes made the motion that in the absence of a request for a public hearing within 24 hours, previous Council action would be sustained. This motion was _ seconded by Councilman Cravey and was approved unanimously. (Councilman Clark left the meeting at this point) Mayor Pro Tem Huron reported that the Airport Committee has reached a tentative agreement for the City to place funds in escrow for the purchase of an airport site. It was pointed out that the City Council had previously authorized $1,000.00 for this purpose. Mayor Pro Tem Huron explained that an additional $1.750.00 would be needed in order to enter into an escrow agreement for the approximately 218 acres of land selected by the Committee. On motion by Councilman Cravey, seconded by Councilman Barnes,.the Council approved.the additional $1,750.00 to be expended from the Council Contingency fund for escrow funds for the proposed airport.
