The meeting was called to order and the City Manager explained
that he had requested the City Clerk to call the meeting to. discuss
the contract which.had previously been under discussion with Griffen-
hagen-Kroeger, Inc. The Council was Informed that the cost of the
management survey could not be included in the "701" program. This
information had been received by telephone on Thursday, August 29, and
since the Council had previously indicated that they were anxious to
get this program under way, that it seemed advantageous that a special
meeting be called to decide whether the Council wanted to proceed with
the engagement of this firm.with the City bearing the entire cost.
After much discussion Councilman Cook moved that Griffenhagen-
Kroeger Inc. be contacted and requested to submit a contract covering
only the classification and pay study plan with related studies. He I
stipulated that it be understood that this study will begin within
fifteen (15) days after signing of the contract. Further, the contract
may be expanded at.the option of the City of Baytown at a mutually
agreed upon additional sum to include expanded studies of functions.
and efficiencies of the city operation. Councilman Ansley seconded.
the motion. The vote was carried unanimously.
The special meeting was then adjourned.
