1962 09 05 CC Minutes, SpecialSPECIAL MEETING TO CANVASS ELECTION RETURNS September 5, 1962 A special meeting was held in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Baytown, Texas, on Wednesday, September 5, 1962, to canvass the election returns of the special election, held August 25, 1962, for the purpose of permitting the qualified voters to decide whether or not the salaries of the members ofthe Police Department, covered by Civil Service, should be increased by Forty -Five ($45.00) Dollars per person per month. The votes were canvassed from the eight (8) precincts located within the city limits and from the absentee vote location at the City Hall. It was found that the returns were correct and the vote cast at said election were as follows, to -wit: For the proposed minimum salary increase of, $45.00 per month per Policeman 1.628 Votes Against the proposed minimum salary increase of $45.00 per month per Policeman 792 Votes Election carried by a majority of: 836 Votes Due to the death of the daughter of Councilman J.
