1961 12 18 CC Minutes, Special1694 MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN December 16, 1961 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas met in special session on Monday. December 18, 1961 at 5: p.m. in the Council Room of the Baytown City Hall with the following members in attendance: Seaborn Cravey Councilman W. L. Ward Councilman Velma J. Ansley Councilman R. H. Hughes Councilman Al Clayton Mayor J.. B. LeFevre City Manager George Chandler City Attorney Absent: James M. Bryan Councilman C. A. Hansen Councilman Edna Oliver City Clerk The Mayor called the meeting to order and the following business was trans- acted: Purchase - Turcks and Passenger Cars - Thad Felton City Manager LeFevre reported that he and the Director of Public Works had completed their study of the car and truck bids received at the December 14th meet- ing. It was his recommendation that the package bid of Thad Felton be accepted at a total cost of $16,978.18, for the four pickup trucks, two garbage trucks and two fordor sedans. Councilman Ansley moved to accept the recommendation of the City Manager and the Ford trucks and passenger cars be purchased from Thad Felton at a total cost of $16,978.18. Councilman Cravey seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Councilmen Cravey, Word, Ansley, Hughes Mayor Clayton Nays: None Authorize - Purchase Right -oiWav - Extension of Narcille Street City Manager LeFevre reported that he had made an investigation of the re- port that a home is to be erected at the dead end of Narcille at Sheridan Drive and found it to be true. He-learned that the house will be located in the proposed northerly right -of -way extension of Narcille Drive as included in "Master Plan for Thoroughfares:, adopted by the City Council, July 27, 1961. After talking with the owner he learned that preliminary work had been done on the property in preparation for construction of the house. This work consisted of hauling in fill sand, staking the location of the house and the "rought in" installation of the plumbing. After explaining the City's need for this right -of -way, the owner agreed to sell the property to the City of Baytown for $2,750.00, plus his actual cost of the preliminary work. Since the materials can be salvaged, the only remaining cost will be the labor which was estimated to be approximately $300.00, Council- man Cravey moved to authorize the City Manager to complete purchase of this prop- . erty for the City of Baytown as a proposed right -of -way for the extension of Nar- cille Drive; cost of the property and incidentals not to exceed $3,000,00. Council- man Hughes seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Councilmen Cravey, Ward, Ansley, Hughes Mayor Clayton Nays: None Adtournment Councilman Ansley moved for the meeting to adjourn.
