1960 06 22 CC Minutes, Special7482 MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN June 22, 1960 -The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, mat in special session on Wednesday, June 22, 1960, at 8:45 A. M., in the Council Room of the Baytown City Hall with the following members in attendance: *Seaborn Cravey W. L. Ward K. E. Badgett Velma Ansley R. H. Hughes R. H. Pruett J. B. LeFevre George Chandler Edna Oliver Absantz_. Lacy Lusk Councilman.°i Councilman j Councilman Councilman Councilman Mayor City Manager City Attorney City Clerk Councilman The Mayor called the meeting to order and the following business was , transacted: Annexation Ordinances - First Reading The City Attorney introduced and read an ordinance extending the boundary limits of the City to include territory north of State Highway No. 73 extending to the north right -of -way line of U. S. Highway No. 90, then northeasterly to Cedar Bayou Stream, then southerly to the Benjamin Barrow Survey, thaiwesterly and southerly to Goose Creek Stream, then northerly and westerly to the place of beginning. Councilman Badgett moved to adopt the ordinance as read. Councilman Ansley seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Call: Ayes: Councilman Ward Nays: None of Badgett It Ansley " Hughes Mayor Pruett The caption of the ordinance follows: ORDINANCE NO. 598 AN ORDINATE ENLARGING AND EXTENDING THE BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN; TEXAS, AND ANNEXING ADDITIONAL ADJACENT TERRITORY TO SAID CITY, ALL OF WHICH IS DESCRIBED HEREIN; CONTAINING A'SAVINGS CLAUSE, AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND PASSAGE OF THIS ORDI- NANCE IN THE MANNER PROVIDED IN ARTICLE b, SECTION 9, OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN (North of Town) Time 8-53 A. The City Attorney introduced and read an ordinance extending the boundary limits of the City to include the island surrounded by the City limits of Baytown and owned and occupied by the Humble Oil & Refining Company, United Rubber & Chemical, Consolidated Chemical, Bayou Pipe Line, etc. Councilman Badgett moved to adopt the ordinance as read. Councilman Cravey seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Call: Ayes: Councilman Cravey Nays: Councilmen Ward Badgett " Ansley Hughes Mayor Pruett The caption of the ordinance follows: ORDINANCE NO. 600 AN ORDINANCE ENLARGING AND EXTENDING THE BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS AND ANNEXING ADDITIONAL ADJACENT TERRITORY TO SAID CITY, ALL OF WHICH IS DESCRIBED HEREIN; CONTAINING A SAVINS CLAUSE, AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND PASSAGE OF THIS ORDI- NANCE IN THE MANNER PROVIDED IN ARTICLE I, SECTION 9, OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN. Study Request - Texas Butadiene & Chemical Corporation - Annexation The Council gave the City Manager and City Engineer permission to meet with officials of the Texas Butadiene and Chemical Corporation after having received a request from the Company for protective annexation. The purpose of the meeting will be to find out the reason for the request, the amount of territory to be included in the proposed annexation and other matters relating to the annexation request. Adjournment Councilman Cravey moved for the meeting to adjourn. Councilman Ward seconded the motion. The ayes were unanimous and the Mayor declared the meeting adjourned. 2 R. R.
