MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN
July 30, 1959
The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas met in special session on
Thursday, July 30, 1959s at 7:00 o'clock P.M., in the Council Room of the Baytown
City Hall, with the following members in attendance:

Committee - Baytown Society for Crippled Children Lease City Property
Mr. Snyder, Mrs. Gordon Farned and Mrs. N. Stiles, members of a committee
for the Baytown Society for Crippled Children requested approval from the Council
to either use or lease part of a 5.8 acre tract owned by the City for a Palsy
Clinic. Said property is'near the hospital and would be convenient for nurses
and the transferring of palsy patients from the clinic. Councilman Ward moved
to authorize preparation of a ten (10) year lease with an option to renew said
lease at the end of the ten year period for the amount needed for the clinic
out of the 5.8 acre tract. Councilman Badgett seconded the motion. The roll call
vote was as follows:

Request - Alignment - Danubina Street
Mr. Bill Ehrhardt and Mr. Joe Speck appeared before the Council to ask for
approval of proposed alignment of Danubina Street, North of Ward Road on property
owned by the Memorial Baptist Church. Councilman Lusk moved that alignment be
granted as presented on preliminary drawing. Councilman Mears seconded the motion.

Donald Haley = Presentation of Proposal of Settlement of Suit
Donald Haley presented a proposal for settlement of a suit against the City
for damages resulting from an accident occurring January 12th. He stated that
he had suffered bodily injury and damage to his car when he hit a hole in the
middle of the intersection of Williams and Jones. Total settlement is in the
amount of $552.38. The City Manager was instructed to obtain total figures
for medical expenses and car repairs and mail a memo and a copy of the accident
report to the Council for study.

Tax Revaluation Survey - Presentation of Bide
*r. Smith and Mr. Ehrenborg, Tax Consultants, met with the Council to discuss
a proposed tax revaluation survey and to submit their bids. Mr. Smith retired to
another romm as Mr. Ehrenborg presented his proposed outline for survey and pre-
sented his bid in the amount of $29,500.00; Mr. Smith then came forward and
in the same manner presented his proposed outline for survey and presented his
bid in the amount of $25,000.00, plus five (5%) percent a hundred on assessed
valuation of oil and gas. The proposed, survey and bids were discussed by. the
Council and after deliberation, Councilman Clayton moved to table the tax revalu-
ation survey indefinitely. Councilman Lusk seconded the motion. The roll call
vote was as follows: '

Councilmen Badgett moved for the meeting to adjourn. Councilman Lusk seconded
the motion. The ayes were unanimous and the Mayor declared the meeting adjourned.
