1959 02 19 CC Minutes, Special1283 MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN February 19, 1959 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas met in special session on Thursday, February 19, 1959, at 5:00 o'clock p.m. in the Council Room of the Baytown City Hall with the following memebers in attendance: P. H. Mears W. L. Ward J. C. Garrison Lacy Lusk R. H. Pruett James W. Harrison George Chandler Edna Oliver Absent: W. D. Hollaway Al Clayton Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman Mayor City Manager City Attorney City Clerk Councilman Councilman The Mayor called the meeting to order and the following business was transacted: Ordinance -Underwrite Exemptions - Williams Street Councilman Ward moved to adopt an ordinance appropriating $5,436.72 out of the Street and Drainage Bond Fund to pay the cost of curbs, gutters, and paving Williams Street on property that appears to be exempt from assessments or the owners failed or refused to sign with the City's contractor. Council- man Garrison seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Call: Ayes: Councilman Ward Nays: None it Garrison " Mears Lusk Mayor Pruett The caption of the ordinance follows: ORDINANCE NO. 521 AN'ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $%1+36.72 OUT OF THE STREET AND DRAINAGE BOND FUND, SERIES 1958, TO PAY THE COST OF CURBS, GUTTERS, AND PAVING TO BE ONSTRUCTED BY THE CITY'S CONTRACTOR IN FRONT OF CERTAIN PARCELS OF PROPERTY ABUTTING UPON 14ILLIA14S STREET BETWEEN THE EAST PROPERTY LINE OF PRUETT AND THE WEST PROPERTY LINE OF NORTH MAIN STREET (FORMERLY GOOSE CREEK STREET), BAYTOWN) TEXAS, WHICH PARCELS OF PROPERTY APPEAR TO BE EXEMPT FROM ASSESSMENTS OR SUBJECT TO ASSESSMENTS WHICH ARE NOT SATISFACTORY TO THE CITY'S CONTRACTOR; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. Drainage - Culverts Councilman Lusk moved that the City.Engineer and Director of Public Works be instructed to replace driveway culverts where necessary for proper drainage; replacement costs to be borne by the City where original culverts had been laid on a design then directed by the City. Councilman Ward second- ed the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: 1284 Roll Call: Eyes: Councilman Ward Nays: None Garrison Mears Lusk Mayor Pruett Ordinance - Curb and Gutter Assessments - Alexander Drive It was agreed that an Ordinance will be passed levying an assessment for the cost of curb and gutter installation against all persons whose pro- perty abutts upon that portion of Highway 146 now under construction. This ordinance will be passed at the next regular meeting of the Council. Adjournment Councilman Ward moved for the meeting to adjourn. Caucilman Lusk seconded the motion.
