MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL 24EETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOW
October 312 1958
The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas met in special session on
Friday, October 31, 1958, at 4 :30 P.M. in the Council Room of the Baytown City
Hall with the following members in attendance:

The Mayor called the meeting to order, afterwhich, the following business
was transacted:
City Manager Harrisc -n informed the Council that he had received a letter from
the J. J. Rady & Company, Engineering firm, recommending that the Council reject
all bids received on the proposed improvements to the Baytown Sewer System and
contained in Contracts 1, 2 and 3. These bids were received and opened at the
regular meeting of October 23rd, and after careful study,,it was decided that
each bid exceeded the estimated cost, as presented by the Rady Engineering Firm,
prior to the November Bond Election. It was recommended that the Council
authorize the firm to readvertise for new bid quotations. Councilman Clayton moved
to reject all bids on Contract Nos. 1, 2 and 3 as tabulated in the minutes of
October 23rd. The Rady Engineering Firm be authorized to re- advertise for bids for
additions to the West Main Sewage Plant, Old Baytown Sewage Treatment Plant and the
installation of interceptor sewer lines - Utah Lift Station. Councilman Mears
seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows:

Councilman Clayton moved to instruct the City Manager to advertise for bids
on a motorgrader to be used in the Public Works Department; such advertisement
to be made after the City Manager, Mr. Grantham and City Engineer Busch have had
sufficient times to study the specifications and determine the type needed.
Councilman Garrison seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows:

List Street for Improvement
Each Councilman and the Mayor was asked to prepare a list of street names, from'
his district, which will be used as a foundation upon which the maintenance street
program for Baytown will be built.
Adjournment.
Councilman Clayton moved for the meeting to adjourn. Councilman Lusk seconded
the motion.. The ayes were unanimous and the Mayor declared the meeting adjourned.
