MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN
February 17, 1958
The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas met in special session on
Monday, February 17, 1958 at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Room of the Baytown City
Hall with the following members in attendance:
P. H. Mears
Councilman
W. L. Ward
Councilmen
J. C. Garrison
Councilman
A. C. Swain
Councilman
Al Clayton
Councilman
Lacy Lusk
Councilman
R. H. Pruett
Mayor
C. D. Middleton
City Manager
Dine Oliver
City Clerk
Absent: George Chandler
City Attorney
The Mayor called the meeting to order, whereupon, the following business
was transacted:
City Manager Middleton submitted his resignation to the City Council to
be effective immediately, provided, the City Council will agree to grant him
30-day base pay plus his 2 -weeks vacation pay. The Council discussed the
legality of such a proposition before it took any action, afterwhich, Councilman
Clayton moved to accept the resignation of C. D. Middleton as City Manager effective
immediately and.he be granted 30-day base pay plus 2 -weeks vacation pay. Council-
man Garrison seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows:

The Council discussed the feasibility of naming a successor to the office
of City Manager at length. It was fiftally agreed that Mayor Pruett will act
as Co- ordinator until the Council has had sufficient time to study the need
and make a selection deemed advantageous to the City.
Ad iouenment
Councilman Lusk moved for the meeting to adjourn. Councilman Clayton seconded
the motion. The ayes were unanimous and the Mayor declared the meeting adjourned.
