1958 01 23 CC Minutes1117 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN January 23, 1958 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas met in regular session on Thursday, January 23, 1958 at 7:00 otelock p.m. in the Council Room of the Baytown City Hall with the following members in attendance: P. H. Mears Councilman W. L. Ward Councilman J. C. Garrison Councilman W. C. Swain Councilman Lacy Lusk Mayor Pro Tem C. D. Middleton City Manager George Chandler City Attorney Edna Oliver City Clerk Absent: R. H. Pruett Mayor Al Clayton Councilman The Mayor pro tem called the meeting to order. Councilman Maans moved to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the regular meeting of January 9, 1958 and the special meeting of January 34th and they be approved. Councilman Garrison seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Call: Ayes: Councilman Ward NaysL None ^ Garrison " Swain " Mears Mayor Pro Tem Lusk Graham street Sewer froiect The City Engineer submitted an estimate of $3,000.00 for the installation of new sewer lines on Graham Street, lemer Court Subdivision. This estimate provided for a 6 -inch sewer with laterals to the home directly effected by the replace- ment of the sewer line, however, it will be. necessary for the city to secure ease- ments for the proposed installation. Councilmen Swain moved to approve the ex- penditure for the relaying of the 6 -inch sewer; the City Attorney be instructed to proceed with procuring the necessary easements for such installation. Council- man Mears seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: 'Roll Call: Ayes: Councilman Ward Nays: None " Garrison_ - mars r Mayor Pro Tem Lusk Fire Insurance Hey Rate Lowered Fire Chief Lintelman presented a letter which he had received from the Chief nigineer of _the town rating unit of the State Board of Insurance, Austin, changing , Fill the fire insurance key rate for.Baytown from 00.38.per $100 to $0.30 per $100.00 of protection. This is the lowest rate that.has ever been assigned to Baytown and this resulted because of Baytownts steady-progressive growth in equipment, man- power, fire stations and.:the enforcement of the cityts building code. McAlister - Barrymore Drive F• L• McAlister, 1221 Barrymore Drive, met.with the Council, at its request, relative to the installation of curb and-gutter along Barrymore Drive in lieu of an easement dedication made to the city for the laying of an interceptor line froip the Park Street Disposal Plant to the West Main Disposal Plant. When this matter was first brought_before.the.Council, March 28th, 1957, it was thought that the oral agreement was.made with Ate• McAlister bnly and the Council had agreed to the installation of such, however, upon investigation it was found that the general impression was given to all residents on the west side of Batrymore that curb and gutter would be installed from the top of the hill to the railroad track, a distance of 12500 feet more or less. &. McAlister-would name no certain party as having made the exact statement but he did imply that in all of his talks with city personnel,= _he:.was_iade to believe that this work would be done for all in lieu of the dedicated: easement. •Ir. McAlister was asked to meet: with the Council at its February 13th meeting for a definite answer from the Council on the problem. AdJournment Councilman Swain moved for the` meeting to adjourn.
