1957 09 03 CC Minutes, Special/C67. MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN SEPTEMBER 3, 1957 The City Council of the City of Baytown.. Tuts met in special session on Thuesday, September 3rd, 1957 at 5:00 otclock p.m• in theCouncil Room of the Baytown City Han with the following members in attendance: Lacy Lusk Mayyor Pro Tem P. H. Mears Councilman W. L. Ward Councilman J• C• Garrison Councilman W. C. Swain Councilman C. D. Middleton City Manager Edna Oliver City Clerk Absent: R. H. Pruett Mayor AL Clayton Councilman George Chandler City Attorney Mayor Pro Tem Lusk called the meeting to order, afterwhich, the City Clerk introduced and read the following resolution: "A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN FORMALLY RECOGNIZING AND THANKING ffiE HONORABLE R. H. PRUETT FOR HIS YEARS IN PUBLIC OFFICE AS MAYOR OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN; AND HEREBY RESOLVING THAT THE SAID HONORABLE R. H.FRUETT SHALL ATTEND THE NATIONAL MAYORSt CON7ENTION - SEPTEM3ER 8TH THROUGH THE 12TH, 1957• "WHEREAS, Honorable R. H.Pruett has and is faithfully and conscientiously serving as Mayor of the City of Baytown; and "WHEREAS, he is now completing five full years as Mayor of the City of Baytown; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown desires to formally express its appreciation to Mayor Pruett for his faithful civic participation in the government of the City of Baytown: "NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN: "THAT the City Council, by and through its duly elected City Council, hereby formally recognizes and thanks the Honorable R. H. Pruett for his years in public offin greater Baytown and resolves that Mayor R. H• Pruett shall attend the National Mayoral Convention - September 8th through September 12th, 1957, in New York City. Councilman Garrison seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Call: Ayes: Councilman Ward " Garrison " Swain " Mears Mayor Pro Tem Lusk Councilman Ward moved to adopt an ordinance appropriating funds for /c48 the Mayor to attend the National Mayoral Convention and for three (3) councilmen to attend the Firemen's Convention in New Orleans. Councilman Garrison seconded the motion. I Bids - Lndscsne - 59wer'Fi n West" Ma n Street The bids on the landscaping of the West Main Disposal Plant site were opened and are tabulated as follows: Channelview Nurseries $715.00 H. L. Maas & Co $500.00 Hester Nursery $600.00 Lee's Nursery $595.00 Councilman Mears moved to accept the bid of H. L. Naas & Sons in the amount of $500.00. Councilman Garrison seconded the motion.
