1956 08 10 CC Minutes, Specialq 1A SPECIAL MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN August 10, 1956 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, met in special session on Friday, August 10, 1956, at 6 :00 p.m. in the office of the City Manager at City Hall with the following members in attendance: Absent: P. H. Mears R. B. Bergeron H. M. Campbell W. C. Swain Lacy Lusk R. H. Pruett C. D. Middleton M. L. Campbell Al Clayton George Chandler, Edna Oliver The Mayor called the meeting to order. Realignment - Voting Precincts - City Limits Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman Mayor City Manager Chairman: Planning Commission Councilman City Attorney City Clerk M. L. Campbell, Chairman of the Planning Commission, presented a proposed draft of some changes in the present voting precincts within the city limits of Baytown. It was recommended that the voting precincts be divided so as to add two (2) new precincts, thus making a more equal distribution of the qualified voters within the city. Councilman Campbell moved to accept the recommendation of the Committee on the redistricting of the voting precincts within the city limits of Baytown. Councilman Lusk seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Call: Ayes:' Councilman Mears Nays: None to Bergeron it Camppell to Swain to Lusk Mayor Pruett A committee composed of Councilmen Swain and Bergeron and City Manager Middle- ton were appointed by the Mayor and instructed to relay the action of the council on the proposed draft to the County Commissioner's Court on Monday. August 13th. Adiournment Councilman Bergeron moved for the meeting to adjourn. Councilman Mears seconded the motion. The ayes were unamimous and the Mayor declared the meeting adjourned.
