1956 05 31 CC Minutes, Specialy16 MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN May 31, 1956 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas met in special session on Thursday, May 31, 1956 at 5: o'clock p.m. in the Council Room of the Baytown City Hall with the following members in attendance: P. H.. Mears Councilman H. M. Campbell Councilman W. C. Swain Councilman Al Clayton Councilman , Lacy Lusk Councilman R. H. Pruett Mayor C. D. Middleton City Manager Absent: R. B. Bergeron Councilman George Chandler City Attorney Edna Oliver City Clerk The Mayor called the meeting to order, afterwhich, the following business was transacted: Naming - Planning Commission Mayor Pruett reported that he had completed his &tddy of naming the members to the Planning Commission and was ready to submit the names of eight (8) men for Council approval. First and foremost he named former Councilman M. L. Campbell as Chairman, James E. Sherwood, Harry F. Massey, Steele M. McDonald, John Lynn Woods, John W. Sylvester, Billy M. Knowles and Lynn A. Seaman. Councilman H. M. Campbell moved to adcept the Committee as named by the Mayor. Councilman Mears seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Call: Ayes: Councilman Mears Nays: None " Campbell " Swain " Clayton " Lusk Mayor Pruett It was agreed that the Committee will be guests of the Mayor, members of theCouncil and City Manager Middleton at a dinner to be held at the Rebel Inn, Thursday, June 7th at 6so'clock p.m. At this time the Committee will organize and the Mayor will name its duties. Trustees from Fire Station No. 1 presented the revisionary deed on the recreational hall site for council approval. Councilman Campbell moved to ap- prove the deed as presented provided it be stipulated that the loan to construct the recreational hall not be in excess of $14,000. This stipulation to be included in the deed. Councilman Lusk seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Call: Ayes: Councilman Mears Nays: None " Campbell " Swain " Clayton " Lusk Mayor Pruett Transfer Humane Officer - Health DeRa:rtment Councilman Lusk moved to authorize the City Manager to transfer the City Humane Officer from the Aolice Department to the Health Department under the direct supervision of City Sanitatian Muennink with the same rate of pay. All operation costs to be paid from the Health Department budget. During the emergency period the City Manager be further authorized to employ another Humane Officer, on a temporary basis, at a salary of $250.00 per month. The starting date to be effective as of June 1st. The city will furnish an additional truck and equipment. Councilman Campbell seconded the motion.
