MINUTRS OF THE SPECIAL MERTING OF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THFCCITY OF BAYTOWN
April 4, 1956
The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas met in special session on
Wednesday, April 4, 1956 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Room of the Baytown City
Hall with the following members in attendance:

The Mayor called the meeting to order, whereupon, the following business
was transacted:
Canvass - Election Pesults - Housing
The Council canvassed the results of the Additional Federal Public Housing
election and the vote count was tallied and verified, afterwhich, the City Manager
introduced and read an ordinance declaring the results of the special election
held on March 24, 1956. Councilman Bergeron moved to adopt the ordinance as
read. Councilmen Mears seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows:

The City Manager introduced and read an appropriation ordinance in the
amount of $2,990.00 to be applied to the salary for new jailer and election
costs. Councilman Mears moved to adopt the ordinance as read. Councilman H. M.
Campbell seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows:

Resolution - Transfer
The City Manager introduced and read the following resolution:
A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER. OF THr CITY OF BAYTOWN TO TPANSFrR NINE THOUSAND
TWENTY -FOUR DOLLARS AND FORTY -FOUR CFNTS ($9,024.44) FROM THE COUN-
CIL CONTINGrATT FUND AND FIFTITEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDR7D ($15,500.00)
DOLLARS FROM THE COUNCIL =GENCY FUND TO CLASSIFICATION 101 Y -1
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
THAT the City Manager of the City of Baytown hereby resolves that the City
Manager of the City of Baytown be authorized to transfer Nine Thousand Twenty
Four Dollars and Forty -Four Cents ($9,024.44) from the Council Contingent Fund '
and Fifteen Thousand Five Hundred ($15,500.00) from the Council Emergency
Fund to Classification 101 Y -1, Capital Improvements.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of a majority of the
City Council of the City of Baytown on this the 4th day of April, A. D., 1956.

Councilman H. M. Campbell moved to adopt the resolution as read. Council-
man Mears seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows:

Authorization - Street Lights_
At the request of the City Manager and upon recommendation of the Street
Lighting Committee, Councilman Clayton moved to authorize the removal of a
2500 lumen incadescent lamp at the intersection of South Main and South Alexander
Drive; to authorize the installation of a 15,000 lumen nercury vapor lamp, mounted
on suspension bracket at $64.00 per lamp per year, at the intersection of
Miriam and South Main Streets. Councilman Mears seconded the motion. The roll
call vote was as follows:

Drainage - IhMnewood Addition
Councilman H. M. Campbell asked council authorization to complete a
drainage project on Briarwood Street, Wynnewood Addition. In order to complete
the project it will be necessary for catch basins to be installed at the inter-
section of 4th and Briarwood at a cost of approximately $100 for each catch basin,
plus any additional expense involved in.the completion of the radius. It was agreed
to complete the project in the proper manner and the City Manager will make a
recommendation in the future for the necessary appropriation to cover the cost.

Councilman Lusk moved for the meeting to adjourn. Councilman Bergeron
seconded the motion. The ayes were unanimous and the Mayor declared the meeting
adiourned.
