1955 08 09 CC Minutes, SpecialMINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL'OF THR CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS August 9, 1955 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas met in special session.on Tues- dhy,:.August 9, 1955 at 7:o'clock p. me in the office of Milton L. Campbell with the - following members in attendance: P. H. Mears Councilman R. Be Bergeron Councilman H. M.Campbell Councilman M. L. C ampbell Councilman Al Clayton Councilman Lacy Lusk Councilman R. H. Pruett Mayor C. D. Middleton City Manager George Chandler City Attorney The Mayor called the meeting to order, whereupon, the following business was transacted: Councilman M. L.Campbell moved to adopt the ordinance allowing a 17j% increase over present rates to the Houston Natural Gas Corporation. Councilman Bergeron seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Call: Ayes: Councilman Bergeron Nays: Councilman Mears. " H. M. Campbell " Lusk " M. L. Campbell " Clayton Mayor Pruett The caption of the ordinance follows: ORDINANCE NO. 288 AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THPr RATE'S OF THE' HOUSTON NATURAL GAB CaUV1RATION IN THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS; PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SAVI.NGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. !c I a Councilman Tusk moved to apporve and authorize a $100.00 per month increase in salary to C. C. Redd as Tax Assessor- Collector of the City of Baytown, retroactive to April 1, 1955 dfid a $75.00 per minth increase in salary to J. T. Peacock as Acting Clerk in the Building Inspection office, etroactive to April 1, 1955; the salary increases are only for the work that has freen added to the duties of each office since the resignation of the former Tax Assessor-Collector., C. Be Hanratty, and in the event of a change in classification of the work or job, the salary will revert to the original salary and classification for which he /they was /wer originally employed. The motion.was discussed at length, afterwhich, Councilman Mears moved to table Councilman Lusk's motion for further study. Councilman Clayton seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Call: Ayes: Councilman Mears " Clayton " H. M. Campbell Nays: Councilman Lusk " Bergeron " M. L. Campbell Mayor Pruett The Mayor declared the motion made by Councilman Mears did not pass, afterwhich, Councilman M. L. Campbell moved to second the original motion of Councilman Lusk.
