1954 03 25 CC Minutes640 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS March 29'1954 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas met in regular session on ' Thursday, March 25, 1954 at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Room.of the Baytown City Hall frith the following members in attendance: R. H. Pruett W. E. Lawless R. B. Bergeron # M. L. Campbell Lacy Lusk W. D. Reeves C. D. Middleton George Chandler Edna Oliver Absent: H. M. Campbell Mayor Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman City Manager City Attorney City -Clerk Councilman The Mayor called the meeting to order and the minutes of the regular meet- ing of March 11th and ]Uh8 special meeting of March 17th were read and approved, whereupon, the following business was transacted: Change - Council Meeting Nights - April Upon the recommendation of Mayor Pruett;'Councilman Reeves moved to change the regular meeting nights of the Council, for the month of April. The regular meetings-will be held Wednesday, April 14th and Thursday, April 29th. Council- man Lawless seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll -Call: Ayes: Mayor Pruett Councilman Bergeron Lawless " Lusk " Reeves * Councilman M. L. Campbell arrives at meeting. Concession Bid - Roseland Park Nays: None The Council received only one bid on the operation of the Concession Stand at Roseland Park Swimming Pool for the swimming season of'1954.. The bid was presented by W. S. Milner and Bob Barefield, with a stipluated rental fee of $65.00 per month plus 10% of 'the gross monthly receipts.. The starting date to be June Z, 1954• Councilman Bergeron moved to accept the bid as presented. Councilman Lusk seconded the motion. The City Manager introduced and read ari ordinance regulating taxicab trans- portation in the City of Ba�.town defining terms and providing for enforcement thereof. Councilman Lusk moved to adopt the ordinance as read. Councilman Reeves .� seconded the motion. Enaineerine Fees - February 1954 Councilman M. L. Campbell moved to approve the payment of engineer's estimate No. 10 on the Sewage Treatment Plant. The amount of the estimate was $543.07. Campbell Lusk Reeves Appropriation Ordinance The City Manager introduced and read an ordinance transferring $3,293.12 from the Council Contingent Elrod to provide payment of the barn housing the fire equip- ment. Councilman Reeves moved to adopt the ordinance as read. Councilman Lawless seconded the motion. Campbell Lusk Reeves The caption of the ordinance follows: ORDINANCE NO. 221 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN TO TRANSFER THREE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED'NINETY -THREE DOLLARS AND TWELVE CENTS ($3,29x.12) FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENT FUND TO CLASSIFICATION 202 -Y -1 TO PROVIDE FOR PAYMENT OF THE FIRE DEPART- MENT GARAGE. - RIMMINMMM A detailed report on the approved sponsored activities of the 1954 Recreation Council will be presented by the City Manager at the next regular meeting of the Council. The Chief of Police was instructed to place a red blinking light, to replace amber, in the traffic signal on North Mein at Fast Fayle. Bys so doing, the traffic on North Main and East Fayle would be required to come to a complete stop at this intersection. It was hoped that this precaution would eliminate a serious accident at this point. :.._ .L. Councilman Reeves moved for the meeting to adjourn. Councilman M. L. Campbell seconded the motion.
