1953 08 13 CC Minutes6 AP MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS August 1), 1953 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas met in regular session on Thursday, August 13, 1953 at 7:30 P. M. in the Council Room of the Baytown City Hall with the following members in attendance: R. H. Pruett Mayor R. B. Bergeron Councilman W. E. Lawless Councilman W. D. Reeves Councilman H. M. Caittipbell Councilniaa Lacy Lusk Councilman Street Light - Authorized Councilman Reeves moved to'approve the installation of a street light at the corner of Cleveland and Bayless. Councilman Bergeron seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Call: Ayes: Mayor Pruett Nays: None Councilman Bergeron Lawless Reeves H. M. Can pbe.11 Equalization Board - Report H. G. Corneil, Chairman of the Equalization Board, submitted the completed report of the 1953 Equalization Board. This report included review of roll, examination,*revision and hearing. Councilman Bergeron moved to accept the report as presented. Councilman H. M. Campbell seconded the motion. Campbell Drainage - Milbydale Section 4 Frank Berry, representing Elmer Gray, developer,gsked Council assistance.in the laying of a drainage line, of sufficient size, to drain Milbydale Section 4. For the job to be done properly a line must be laid along Danubina Street to connect with the Harrill County Flood Control Drainage Ditch as outlet. Mr. Gray agreed to lay a portion of the line if the city would assist in the area not bordering the proposed subdivision. Councilman Reeves moved to approve the proposal; Mr. Gray be instructed to lay a 241, line bringing it to Fayle and the city will pick up at Fayle with a 3011 line and extend it 375' to connect with the drainage ditch. Two catch basins will be installed by the City also. Councilman H. M. Campbell seconded the motion. Campbell Police Training School Councilman Lawless moved to approve the request of Assistant Chief of Police Montgomery, and send Herbert Freeman, Patrolman, to the Texas Municipal Police School which is conducted by the Texas Engineering Extension Service at A & M College from September 7 through October 2, 1953; total cost including registration fee, roam rent, instruction material, supplies and meals, $125.00. Campbell Pay Texas Water Well - Advertise Bids Repair Pump Councilman Reeves moved to instruct the City Manager to advertise for bids on the replacing of column and shafting for Water well No. 3; he be instructed to pay Texas Water Well, Inc. a repair bill of $1,867.92. Campbell Transfer Ordinance Councilman Reeves moved to adopt an ordinance authorizing the City Manager to transfer $2,000 to be used in connection with the Telephone Rate Hearing. Councilman H. M. Campbell 6 /3 The caption of the ordinance follows: ORDINANCE NO. 194 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF RAYTOWN TO TRANSFER TWO THOUSAND ($2000).DOLIARS FROM CLASSIFICATION 101, COUNCIL CONTINGENT FUND, TO CIASSIFICATION 101 -G-7 AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. Adjournment The Cduncil discussed including funds in the 1953 -54 budget for new Fire Station and building for the Emergency Corps truck and the selection of a Corporation Judge to replace ailing Judge McCullough, after which, Councilman Reeves moved for the meeting to adjourn.
