1952 10 29 CC Minutes, SpecialMINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CTTY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS October 29, 1952 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas met in special session on Wednesday, October 29, 1952 at 7:30 p. m. in the Council Room of the Baytown City Hall with the following members in attendance: Absent: J. A. Ward Mayor W. E. Lawless Councilman M. L. Campbell Councilman R. H. Pruett Councilman H. M. Campbell Coucilman C. D. Middleton George Chandler R. B. Bergeron W. D. Reeves Edna Oliver The Mayor called the meeting to order. Transfer Ordinance City Manager City Attorney Councilman Councilman City Clerk The City Manager introduced and read and ordinance transfering $13,971.00 from the Council Emergency Fund to classification 301 -Z-2A to-pay for the Barber - Greene Ditch - Digger purchased from the South Texas Equipment Company at the last regular meeting of the Council. Councilman Pruett moved to adopt the ordinance as read. Councilman H. M. Campbell seconded the motion. Campbell The caption of the ordinance follows: ORDINANCE NO. 162 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN TO TRANSFER THIRTEEN THOUSAND, NINE HUNDRED SEVENTY -ONE ($132971.00) DOLLARS FROM THE COUNCIL alERGENCY FUND NO. 101 TO CLASSIFICATION THREE HUNDRED AND ONE Z-2A. Amendment Ordinance - Street Naming The 91-ty Council was informed that a delegation of residents from West Hines Street was preparing a petition and would appear before the Council, at its next regular meeting, protesting the action of the Council in changing the name of Williams Avenue to West Hines Street. To avoid such action the City Attorney introduced and read an ordinance rBscinding the ordinance which provided for the change of name from Williams to West Hines Street. Councilman M. L. Campbell moved to aopt the ordinance as read. Councilman Lawless seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Call: Ayes: Mayor bard Nays: None Councilman Lawless 11 M. L. Campbell The caption of the ordinance follows: ORDINANCE NO. 163 AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE NAME OF WEST HINES STREET TO WILLIAMS AVENUE AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. s`aa MIscelleanous The Classification Ordinance of Civil Service employees was read. and discussed. Several changes were made in the proposed ordinance and it was decided to take no further action on the ordinance until the proposed amendments were made a part of the ordinance. It was agreed to have the next regular meeting of the Council on Monday evening November 3rd,rather than Tuesday since this date would conflict with the officials holding the Election in Precinct 101, City Nall. Adi ournenmt Councilman Pruett moved for the meeting to adjourn. Councilman Lawless seconded the motion. The ayes were unanimous and the Mayor declared the meeting adjourned.
