1952 09 11 CC MinutesMINUTES OF THE RFGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTRdN, TEXAS September 11, 1952 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas met in regular session on Thursday, September 11, 1952, at 7:30 P. m. in the Council Room of the Baytown City Hall with the following members in attendance: •� J. A. Ward Mayor R. B. Bergeron Councilman R. H. Pruett Councilman W. D. Reeves Councilman C. D. Middleton City Manager George Chandler City Attorney Absent: W. F. Lawless Councilman H. M. Campbell Councilman M. L. Campbell Councilman The Mayor called the meeting to order and the minutes of the regular meeting of August 28th and the special meeting of September 2, 1952 were read and approved, whereupon the following business was transacted: Haferkamp - Traffic Light Mrs. R. H. Haferkamp, representing the residents of Danubina Acres and Milbydale Additions, appeared before the council requesting the installation of a traffic light at the intersection of Highway 146 and Fast James Street. She urged that this be done to eliminate the hazard to school children crossing said intersection; also that a police officer be stationed at the intersection during the hours when children would rbe crossing until the light could be installed. Mayor Ward informed Mrs. Haferkamp that permission would have to be obtained from the State before installing the traffic light - that permission had been requested before but was refused. The Mayor advised Mrs. Hafarkamp to write to the Department of Safety about the problem and authorized the City Manager to follow up with a similar request from the City. Berlin - Pavment of Engineering Feey Mr. H. S. Berlin, Engineer, presented a statement of the engineering fee for pre- paration of plans and contract documents of Storm Sewer Improvements, Estimate No. 2, in the amount of Two Thousand Nine Hundred Eighty -Five ($2,985.00) Dollars. Councilman Pruett moved for payment of said statement and Councilman Reeves seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Call: Ayes: Mayor Ward Nays: None Councilman Bergeron " Pruett " Reeves Change Council Meetings Councilman Reeves moved that the council meetings through December 1952 be changed from Thursday nights to Monday or Tuesday nights. Mayor Ward informed the council that the Council Room was rented to the Knights of Pythias on those nights and authorized the City Manager to check with the Knights of Pythias as to the possibility of the Council meeting on the second and fourth Monday or Tuesday of each month through December in order that the Councilmen may attend football games. Adiournment Councilman Pruett moved to adjourn. Councilman Reeves seconded the motion. The ayes were unanimous and the Mayor declared the meeting adjourned. F"IRRIT City Cler Mayor
