1952 05 19 CC Minutes, Special[1 i 479 MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CTTY COUNCIL OF THE CTTY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS May 19, 1952 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas met in special session on Monday, May 19, 1952 at 7:30 P. m. in the Office of the City Manager in the City Hall with the following members in attendance: J. A. Ward Mayor R. P. Pergeron Councilman N. E. Lawless Councilman M. L. Campbell Councilman W. D. Reeves Councilman C. D. Middleton City Manager George Chandler City Attorney Absent: }I. M. Campbell Councilman R. H. Pruett Councilman Edna Oliver City Clerk The Mayor called the meeting to order and the following business was transacted: Postpone Councilmeeting Councilman M. L. Campbell moved to postpone the regular meeting of the City Council until Thursday, May 29, 1952, to that members of the Council could attend the regular meeting of the Mayors' and Councilmen's Association on Thursday night'- may 22nd. Councilman Reeves seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as fellows: Roll Call: Byes: Mayor Ward Nays: None Councilman Bergeron Lawless " M. L. Campbell " Reeves Fire Station No. 2 Charles Pierson, Chairman of the No. 2 Fire Station Committee, requested some action, by the Council, on the erection of a Fire Station at the new site on Market Street. Re suggested that funds be made available immediately, by the Council, in order that construction may begin. The Council entered into a discussion, after - which, it was decided to wait for further fir:mes on the cost of construction, contract estimates, and time required for construction before making further com- mittments. Perlin - Prepare Specifications The Council instruction the City Manager to notify Mr. Perlin, engineer, to prepare snecifications, for presentation at the next regular meeting of the Council, on the city's proposed improvement programs as outlined by the Council. The Council requested that the specifications be broken down into units. of proposed improvements, to simplify study. insurance - Roseland Park Pool Councilman Bergeron noved so approve a liability insurance policy for Roseland Park swimming pool for the 1952 season. Councilman Reeves seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Call: Ayes: Mayor Ward Nays: None Councilman Bergeron " lawless M. L. Campbell " Reeves Filing Cabinet - City Clerk Councilman Reeves moved to approve the purchase of a filing cabinet for the City Clerk. Councilman Lawless seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Call: Ayes: Mayor Ward Nays: None Councilman Bergeron lawless " 1,1. L. Campbell " Reeves Name List — Equalization Board — Civil Service Committee The City Manager informed the Council that an Equalization Board should be appointed before June 1, 1952. He submitted a list of names of qualified persons who would be willing to serve, on the Equalization Board or Civil Service Commission, if appointed. Adjournment Councilman M. L.
