1951 09 27 CC Minutes. 424 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETTNG;OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITYYOF BAYTOWN, TEXAS September 27, 1951 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas met in regular session on Thursday, September 27, 1951 at 7:30 P. m. in the Council Room of the Baytown City Hall with the following members in attendance: J. A. Ifard Mayor R. B. Bergeron Councilman E. W. Buelow Councilman R. H. Pruett Councilman W. D. Reeves Councilman H. M. Campbell Councilman C. D. Middleton City Manager George Chandler City Attorney Edna Oliver City Clerk Absent: M. L. Campbell Councilman The Mayor called the meeting to order, and the minutes of the regular meeting of Septembet 13, 1951 and the special meeting of September 19, 1951 were read and approved, whereupon the following business was transacted: Baytown Developers - Preliminary Approval Lawndell No. 3 Councilman W. D. Reeves moved to give Baytown Developers, Inc preliminasry approval of Lawndell Subdivision, Section 3. Councilman Bergeron secodded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Call: Ayes: Mayor Ward Nays: None Councilman Bergeron it Buelow it Pruett Reeves TM H. M. Campbell Taylor - Contract Spraying H. T. Taylor, a local resident, appeared before the Council and proposed to spray insecticide for the city at the rate of $2.00 per mile provided the 66tipcil would give him a two (2) year contract. This proposal included the machine and manpower, however, the city would vex required to furnish the insecticide. No action was taken on the proposal. Drilling Applications Councilman Reeves moved to approve the drilling application of the Foretich Well Service on the S. W. Toups Lease, Well No. 1. Councilman Pruett seconded the motion. Campbell Councilman Reeves moved to approve the drilling application of Allen A. Borton on the Dyer No 2 Lease and the H. Trifon Lease, Well No. 1. Councilman Bergeron seconded the motion. M. Campbell moved to instruct the City Manager to advertise for bids on the feeding of prisoners 'laced in the city jail. Councilman Buelowseconded the motion. Campbell Authorize - Equipment Bids Councilman Buelow moved to authorize the City Manager to advertise for bids on seven truck& and one loader. The trucks desi ted were three*(3) dump, two (2) garbage, one (1) 3/4 ton pickup and one (10 ton pickup. Councilman H. M. Campbell seconded the motion. Campbell Approval --City Manager's Recommendations Councilman Buelow moved to approve the recommendations of the City Manager on certain changes in the Tax and Auditing Departments of the City. Council- man H. M. Campbell seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Call: Ayes: Mayor Ward Nays: None Councilman Bergeron TM Buelow TM Pruett TM Reeves H. M. Campbell Signal Light - Railroad Crossing - Lee Arive Councilman Buelow moved to instruct the City Manager to notify the Missouri - Pacific Railroad Company that the Council requested that a signal light be in- stalled at the Railroad Crossing on Lee Drive. Councilman H. M. Campbell seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Call: Ayes: Mayor Ward Nays: None Councilman Bergeron TM Bu elow TM Pruett t' Reeves TM H. M. Campbell Action Deferred - Parking Meters owing to the fact that the Mayor was called from the meeting rather unexpectedly and one council,-,,%8:s absent, action was deferred on the request to remove park- ing meters from certain sections of the city's business district. Adjoun went Councilman Buelow moved to adjourn. Councilman Bergeron seconded the motion. The ayes were unanimous and Mayor pro tem Pruett -declared the meeting adjourned.
