1951 03 30 CC Minutes, SpecialMINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTUWN, TEXAS March 30, 1951 The City Council of t he City of Baytown, Texas met in special session on Friday, March 30, 1951 at 7 :30 pe me in the Council Room of the Baytown City Hall with the following members in attendance: d. A. Ward Mayor R. Be Bergeron Councilman E. W. Buelow Councilman R. H. Pruett Councilman.. W. D. Reeves Councilman W. C. Williams Councilman C. Darwin Middleton City Manager George Chandler City Attorney Edna Oliver City Clerk Absent: Milton L. Campbell Councilman The Mayor called the meeting to order'. Agreement - Houston, Lighting and Power Coun W. C. Swain, Division Supervisor of the Houston, Lighting and Power Com- pany, presented an agreement to install and operate, without cost to the City of Baytown, 127 additional overhead.street lights of 250 candle power, these lights to be installed at street intersections agreed upon by the Council and at the. rate, insofar as practicable, of one - fourth thereof in each of the Feats 1951 and 1952, and one -sixth thereof in each of the years 19539 19511 and 1955• Council- man Reeves moved to accept the agreement as read. Councilman Pruett seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Rol1Ca11: Ayes: Mayor Ward Nays: None Councilman Bergeron a Buelow Pruett a Reeves n. Williams Mayor Ward instructed the Light Committee to make a survey and submit recommendations for the location of the additional street lights. . H. S. Berlin - Planning Project Reports H. S. Berlin, engineer, explained in detail the proposed improvements in- cluded in the proposed 31,000,000 bond issue for the City of Baytown. These improvements included drainage, water and sewer projects. The sewer lines outlined included Travis, Missouri, Maryland, Market, West Main'Durain Ferry Road, Busch Terrace, Central Heights, and South Main. A new sewage disposal plant would be built ofi city owned property just off West Main. All of the proposed improvements would completely eliminate the drainage problems insofar as major needs are concerned.. Mr. Berlin urged the Council -to check the proposed plans carefully and make any suggestio#s, if needed. Adjournment Councilman Pruett moved to adjourn. Councilman Buelow seconded the motion.
