MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS
December 20, 1949
The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texad met in regular session on
Tuesday, December 20, 1949 at 700 p.m. in the Council Room of the Baytown City
Hall with the following members in attendance:

The Mayor called the meeting to order, and the minutes of the regular meeting of
December 6, 1949 were read and approved, whereupon the following business was trans-
acted:
Ordinance No. 54 (a)
The City Attorney introduced and read Ordinance No. 54(a) which extended and
enlarged -the boundary limits of the City of Baytown, Texas and annexed additional
adjacent territory. Councilman Bergeron moved to adopt the ordinance as read.
Councilman Williams seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows:

ING AND FETENDING THE BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAY-

The City Attorney introduced and read an ordinance enlarging and extending
the city limits of the City of Baytown. Co uncilman Pruett moved to adopt the
ordinance as read. Councilman Bergeron seconded the motion. The roll call vote
was as follows:

AN ORDINANCE ENLARGING AND EXTENDING THE BOUNDARY LIMITS

FOR THE PUBLICATION AND PASSAGE OF THIS ORDINANCE IN THE

Councilman Davis made a motion that it be made a matter of record that it is
not the intention of the City Council in its annexation of a portion of the Humble
Oil & Refining property to retard refinery operations but that such operations
shall continue with as little as possibl3 interruption.,by the City Government.
Councilman Pruett seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows:

W. E. Ehrhardt - Survey
Councilman Pruett moved to authorize the City Manager to pay Mr. W. E.
Ehrhardt, Surveyor, $261.00 for his work on the survey of the additional territory
included in the annexation ordinance. Councilman Bergeron seconded the motion.

Bids - Police Cars
The bids were opened on the police car and they are taoulated as follows:

2. Hemphill's Pontiac 1,000.00
Councilman Godfrey moved to accept the bid submitted by Hemphill Pontiac
Company and Councilman Bergeron seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as

The bids on the pick -up trucks were opened and they are tabulated as follows

4. Thad Felton Nord 2,459.00
Councilman Bergeron moved to accept the bid submitted by Hemphill Pontiac
Company. Councilman Godfrey seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows:

Chassis Garbage Truck
Since an error was made in the printing of the advertisement for bids on the
garbage truck chassis, Councilman Stroud made a motion to return the bids submitted
and readverti ®e. Councilman Pruett seconded the motion. The roll call vote was
as follows:

Change Council Meeting Nights
Councilman Davie moved to change the meeting nights of the City Council to the
first and third Thursday nights of each month. Councilman Stroud seconded the motion.

Air Compressor
Councilman Godfrey moved to purchase the Le Roi Air Compressor. Councilman
Bergeron seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows:

The Mayor declared the motion failed to carry.
Councilman Pruett moved to re- advertise for an Air - Compressor, air or water
cooled. Councilman Bergeron seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows:

Tractor
Councilman Pruett moved to postpone action on the purchase of a tractor until
further investigation could be made. Councilman Davis seconded the motion. The roll

Councilman Davis moved to adjourn. Councilman Pruett seconded the motion. The
ayes were unanimous and the Mayor declared the meeting adjourned.
