Stroud Council -an The mayor called the meetin° to order, and the minutes of the regular meeting of June 2, 191i9 were read and approved, whereupon the following business was trans- acted: lied Too Taxi Permit Increase I:r. I.iurray Rogers, :anayer of the Bayshore Bus Lines, urged the council to grant the request of the Red Top Taxi Line for five (5) additional Dermits to ci rate taxis within the city limits. This line operated frois the bus Terminal and many times the passengers had waited or walked, due to an insufficient number of cabs. !x. J. C. iartin, owner of the Red Top Line, told the co mcil that he was operating fifteen (15) cabs at present. Councilman Praett ncvcd to -rant the five (5) additional permits in conformance with the public need. Councilman Bergeron seconded the motion. The roll call vote vas as follovrs: Roll Call: Ayes: "ayor Ward Nava. ::one Councilman Bergeron Davis Godfrey Pruett V'r'illiams Rat Control Continued The mayor read the reply letter from Dr. Cox, of the State Health Department, on the request of the council £or a state man to inspect the work that had been done in the city on the rat- proofing pre ^ram. He informed the co -ncil that a man w:as not avail- able at present. The mayor presented a list of names of persons who had de- ratted their Places of business and were satisfied with the results. :Ynety nine (99) - ersons had been contacted and ninety two (92) were satisfied and signed statements to that effect. After much discussion., the mayor sug,ested that the councilmen meet at 1 o'clock Tuesday, June 28th for a personal visit to ev, ry establishment possible. A concrete contractor, of unbiased o,anion, would accompany them to check all of the work and determine if the work was satisfactorily done and the price reasonable. Lary of the residents ranted a curb and gutter program, hm7ever, this would be impossible as long as the drairage ditch :,as ]eft open.. I Boat Trip - Texas City The coencil accepted the invitation e::tended by Sconce Love, Engineer of Texas City, to cruise by best to Texas City and inspect concrete paving now being installed. The date was set for Sunday, June 25th. Councilman lYilliams moved that the meeting adjo:rn. Come-JIman Godfrey seconded the motion.
